The Goodbyes (Aqua)

I walked with taria and Ian towards the clearing where some of the bodies were laid.The game makers had decided it was good to let the remaining tributes see the bodies of the dead ones before carrying them away.

I saw taria and Ian run towards the bodies of their partners,Tori was in a simple mustard yellow dress,the colour of her district.

I walked towards her.She was so young when she died,but she looked peaceful.

I stroked her hair as Ian stood besides me.He recited a silent prayer for the young girl.

I picked up a lily and put it in her hand.

"She was so young but brave."I heard Ian say.

Taria came in behind him and put a hand on his shoulder."she's in a better place."

Sage was lying right besides Tori with a black jacket and black jeans.

He had truly died a hero's death.

Taria was sobbing silently.I tried to comfort her but the pain of losing a close one couldn't be forgotten.

Something catches my eye.

A blue colour,a sea storm blue colour.The colour I've seen in my district many times.

I find myself walking towards the colour.

It feels like I'm walking towards home.

Those blue grey eyes are closed.The eyes every girl would die over.

He had a scar running down his cheek.

I run a finger over the scar as tears fill my eyes.

No matter what he'd done to me,he was my partner.

A single tear ran down my face.

I felt someone standing behind me and I embraced them.

"Ian,I miss him."

"He was on your side."

The voice didn't belong to Ian.

I jump back looking at the face of the scorpion.

"He was my secret ally."Sam told.

"When you guys were tied to the tree and left to burn,he came to tell me to save you guys because he couldn't."He explained."Me and sky were there when he died,he told us to keep you safe."

Tears streamed down my face.

He put a hand on my shoulder."he died a good death."

Ian and taria came over.

I looked at them.

Ian came to my side,holding my hand."what's wrong Aqua?"

"Austin was always on our side."I told him softly."he tried to keep us safe.

Ian hugged me and I hugged him back.

"They're all in a better place."taria said,joining the hug.

"Indeed they are,"Skylar said as she saluted the bodies of candy and cance.

Ian still had my hand and I was glad for that.

We stood there silently as the hover crafts came and carried away the fallen stars.
