The clock struck 4:00 and I gathered my things from my office. It was a Friday evening and I was finally done with work for the week, and had a 3 day weekend. I took my jacket off the back of my chair and turned off my computer. I was the last one working today, because my boss let everyone go early. But not me. He made sure I had to stay an extra 2 hours. I swear he hates me.
I made my way to my car, and sat in the drivers seat. I took my phone out of my purse and texted my best friend, Abby.
'Hey Abby. My boss made me stay late again, that's why I'm late. I'll be there in about 10 minutes,' I quickly type as I send her the message. I turn on my music and start to drive. I heard my ringer go off about a minute after I sent her the message, but I wasn't going to risk my life by texting and driving... She wasn't worth it.
I stop at one of the longest lights in Binghamton, which takes about 7 minutes to turn. I take out my phone now because I know I'll be waiting a while, especially because it's rush hour.
I unlock my phone and open up to Abby's message.
'MADISON! Hurry up! We need to get ready for the game! I swear to god if we're late and miss warmups, I'm going to kill you. ACTUALLY KILL YOU.'
I smile to myself and just shake my head. That's typical Abigail.
She was right though. I needed to get back. I wasn't going to miss the home opener for the senators. I was thinking about it all day! I'm brought out of my thoughts as I hear a horn behind me. I look in front of me and there aren't any cars there. Oops.

"ABBY IM HERE DONT KILL ME" I say as I enter the door to our house. We were renting a place about 10 minutes from the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena. Yeah yeah long name, I know.
"You said 10 minutes Madison. That was like 45 minutes." She says to me, coming out of her room with a brush to her hair. I look at my phone and realize she's right. It was 4:47 right now, and I looked like a mess. I needed to dish out my Dzingel jersey from my closet since I haven't had it on since April.
I quickly rush into my room, and brush out my strawberry blonde hair. I put on a little bit of mascara, and search through my closet for my jersey.
It must have taken 15 minutes for me to find my jersey, but I was ready to go. I slip on a pair of my black converse, and head out into the living room. Of course, Abby was on FaceTime with the one and only Jacob de la Rose.
Since she lived in St. John's all of her life, she met Jacob. And they've been dating for like, 9 months or something now? I don't know, I don't pay attention to her.
Abby wasn't even going to wear a Binghamton jersey tonight, just because of Jacob. I shake my head at her as I sit next to her on the couch. "Hey Jacob." I say leaning on her shoulder.
"Hey Maddie!" He says as he waves at the phone. "That's an ugly jersey you have on there."
"I'll have you know that this jersey is FAR from ugly, Mr. de la Rose. And I will prove that to you next weekend when you guys are playing here, when the sens win!" I say sticking my nose up in the air.
I hear him chuckle and say "Yeah right!" and I just shake my head.
Abby and Jacob talk for 3 more minutes until she tells him that she should leave for the game. Abby puts her hoodie on, and we get ready to leave.
Sometimes I wonder why I can't date a professional hockey player. I mean, who wouldn't want to date one? They're so tough on the ice, but off of it, they act like teddy bears.
Abby decided she would drive, as I sit in the passenger seat. All I can think about on the drive there is why I'm not as happy as she is, with a professional hockey player.

"And with that ladies and gentlemen, the senators win the home opener 6-2 against the Utica Comets!"
The crowd goes wild as the sens skate towards the goalie, Matt O'Connor. I have a huge feeling that this season was going to be a great one. Abby and I bang on the glass as the whole stadium erupts, and give another round of applause to the winning team. I'm so proud to be from here. I can't help but smile at all of them. They look so happy, and it makes me extremely happy as well.
The players skate off the ice, and head to the dressing room as Abby and I stand up from our front row, season ticket seats, and walk up the stairs.
"Wasn't that such a good game?!" I say to Abby as we walk up the stairs.
"Yeah it was alright I suppose." She says and laughs to herself.
"Oh shut up. I know you love them deep down." I say as I push her to go faster up the stairs.

After about 10 minutes of just walking around the stadium not having any idea of what we were doing, I finally get an idea.
"Hey Abs, wanna go to the bar?" I ask nudging my best friend, trying to annoy her.
"1, don't call me that again. And 2, yeah sounds good, I probably won't drink much though." She says as she grabs my finger and bends it back.
"OK. OW?!" I say kissing my finger. "But alright, let's just get the car." I say grabbing her hand as we run out of the main doors.
And with that, we were driving around downtown, searching for a parking spot. We finally found a spot in front of one of the popular bars. We walk into the doors, and are welcomed by the sound of the loud music, cheers, and the sound of beer bottles clinking together. This was going to be an.... interesting night.
