I don't know how long it was that I layed there. The girls left soon after I arrived, and by now I was sure that the Yogscast had picked their perfect little girl for them and left. I heard a knock on the door, and dismissed it as Ms. Hilton about to give me a lecture on walking in the room when she's talking to clients.
"Come in." I muttered. I heard the door open, followed by the shuffling of feet. Many pairs of feet.
"Candie, honey, there are some people here for you." I heard Ms. Hilton say in a tone I've never heard before. I turned my head and opened my eyes, and were stricken to see the four Yogscast members from earlier.
I sat up straight and combed through my fingers, and let me tell you, it took all my willpower not to run over there and fangirl.
"Let me go get the paperwork while you introduce yourselves." Ms. Hilton said sweetly and left the room.
"Hi, uh, Candie, right?" Lewis said, giving a small wave. I nodded, my jaw still wide open. Apparently, I wasn't as unlucky as I thought.
Returning back to Earth, I got up slowly and grabbed a duffle bag from my closet. I packed all my clothes in it, adding a few other items as well.
"We should introduce ourselves." Hannah said. I think she was trying to start a conversation. "I'm Hannah."
One by one, they all introduced themselves. As if I didn't know who they were. They already knew my name, so I saw no reason to speak. It may have been polite, but I'm pretty sure if I spoke, my voice would break from shock.
Then Ms. Hilton walked back in the room, papers in her hand. She handed them to Simon, who took them and signed them.
Then it struck me; Simon was going to be my dad. It sounded absurd but awesome at the same time. I guess since he's the one who seems the most childish, he just never occurred to me as the fatherly type.
I threw my duffle bag over my shoulder and walked in front of the Yogscast. They smiled at me and I realized that I probably looked a mess. My hair was all tangled, I wore no makeup, and I certainly didn't appeal to the other kids at the orphanage, so why would I appeal to the Yogscast members?
"Hey there." Simon said. He was about to put a hand on my shoulder, but seemed to rethink and brought it back at his side.
"Time for you to go, Candie. I hope this home will be for you." Ms. Hilton said in that sickening sweet tone. I pushed back the urge to stick my tongue out at her.
Then we began walking down the hall, passed other kids. They didn't dare make fun of me in front of Ms. Hilton or other adults, but I could see the glares they pointed in my direction. Tiff-whatever watched me walk past her in the hall, and I could just glimpse the jealously gleam in her eyes. I smirked, and no one noticed.
We walked outside towards a silver car, the one I recognize from the 'Don't Starve Challenge' videos. It was Lewis' car.
Lewis hopped in the front, Hannah taking the passenger seat. I sat near a window, with Simon and Duncan next to me. How we all managed to fit back there, I don't know.
I looked out the window as we drove away from the orphanage. Rain drops covered the windows as it poured outside, but I didn't care. I'm going to Yogtowers! My hands fiddled with the strings of my hoodie at the thought of meeting other members. Heck, I'll be part of the Yogscast!
"What are you smiling about?"
I jumped as I looked at Simon, who was smiling and looking at me. I frowned as my cheeks heated up.
"She's getting adopted, that must be why she's smiling." Hannah said from the front. My cheeks were probably as red as a tomato.
"Stop it guys, your embarrassing her!" Duncan laughed from further down the seat. I pulled the strings so my hoodie would cover my face. I heard laughter at my actions. Then I smiled. This is what the Yogscast do; they look at the world in a different light. A funny light. And they pass that humor on to their fans. And I'm that fan right now.
