The minute I see Lewis, I push away Luke forcefully. I take a large step away, while Luke stands in front of me, confused.
"Candie? What were you doing?!" Lewis asks, not sounding too happy.
Luke spins around, and his face expression is somewhat shocked.
"Uh-oh," I murmur unintentially.
"Uh-oh is right," Lewis says. "Let's get you home. Now." He glares at Luke while he grabs my arm and drags me away.
"I-It wasn't what it looked like!" I defend.
"It wasn't? Then what were you doing?" Lewis asks, not turning to look at me.
I bite my lip as I think of what to say. Luke awkwardly follows us.
"It was my fault, Lewis. I'm the one who asked her out." Luke says. I smile at him and blush at his input.
"That doesn't matter. You go home and leave Candie alone," Lewis says, shooing Luke away. Luke smiles at me sadly, and walks away.
Lewis leads me to the car, where I see Hannah's blonde hair in the passenger's side. She rolls down her window to talk to us.
"What happened? Why do you look so angry?" She asks.
"Candie wasn't out with friends," Lewis explains. "She was out with a boy, and I caught them making out in front of the cinema." Hannah's jaw drops and she looks to me.
I roll my eyes. "It's not a big deal! So we kissed. Nothing else happened." I cross my arms.
"The problem isn't that you went out with a boy," Hannah says. "It's the fact that you lied to us."
Lewis gets into the driver's side, and I get in the back. I cross my arms and look out the window, my anger rising. It's a not a big deal! This is what other teenagers my age do! They should know that! All adults should know that! Teenagers will make out with boys at night. It's a normal thing!
The car pulled into the driveway of Simon's house, and we got out. My arms were still crossed and I grinded my jaw as we walked up to the door.
Simon opened the door for us with a smile, but frowns in confusion at our expressions.
"What happened?" He asks.
I don't answer, but walk past him and into the living room. I hear them follow, Simon asking questions. I begin to walk into my room.
"Candie," I hear Lewis' firm voice and freeze. " Come out to the living room, now." I sigh, hope that I won't be in too much trouble, and turn around back to the living room.
"What even happened?" I hear Simon's confused voice. I sit in a chair while I hang my head down. Lewis and Hannah begin to explain, and I feel Simon's eyes burn into me at every word. I refuse to lift my head up.
"So what's the punishment?" Simon asks. I grind my jaw.
"That's what we're going to figure out," Lewis says.
I let my dark hair cover my face, and momentarily remember when Hannah and I went shopping and I got a haircut. I shook away the memory and focused on the present.
"I think we should put her on house arrest." Hannah spoke up. I snapped my head up, my mouth slightly open.
"I think that's a pretty good idea," Simon says, noticing my reaction.
"For how long?!" I say, a bit louder than I intended.
"I'd say a month," Simon says.
I stand up, my cheeks becoming red from anger.
"It wasn't even my fault! He kissed me!" I say, but feel guilty that I blamed Luke.
"But you went along with it. You were kissing him, doesn't matter who kissed who." Hannah says.
"And it was only that! A kiss! Not a big deal! I don't know why your making such a big fuss out of this!" I argue, my voice getting louder.
"We wouldn't be making a fuss out of it if you'd told us why you really were at the cinema." Lewis says.
I try to think of something to say, but I come up with nothing. I know they're probably right, but I want to prove them wrong somehow.
"It's not fair!" I finally yell, and stomp into my room. I slam the door, making the walls shake slightly. I'm probably acting like a spoiled brat, but I want to scream and yell and kick at the wall. I had so much fun tonight, and now they have to ruin it.
'They' once being my idols. Not people who acted like my parents.
