Lauren POV
"I'll stay awake,
'Cause the dark's not taking prisoners tonight.
Why am I not scared in the morning?
I don't hear those voices calling,
I must have kicked them out, I must have kicked them out,"
I woke up to the same soothing voice and the same pounding headache. Everything seemed surreal. I was still in this room, only now it was lit up. I sat up and groaned loudly. My body was still sore from last night's events.
"I swear I heard demons yelling,
Those crazy words they were spelling,
They told me I was gone, they told me I was gone.
Why am I not scared in the morning?
I don't hear those voices calling,
I must have kicked them out, I must have kic--"
The singing stopped. I looked around the big, concrete room. The first thing I noticed was a long, dark staircase. I wonder what it leads to but at the same time I'm too scared to find out. There was a small wooden stool in the corner of the room, all black clothing sat on top of it. Next to the stool was a toilet and next to the toilet was a shower head. Opposite to the shower head, there was a square, steel door installed into the wall. I wonder what that was for. Across from my mattress was the wall of iron bars that separated my 'room' from another. The room had the same items as mine, only in different places.
Then my eyes landed on her. She had big Y/E/C (Your eye color) eyes and long Y/H/C (Your Hair Color) hair. She was sitting with her legs cross, with a house of cards in front of her. She gave me a curious look before sending me a sympathetic, sad smile.
"Thank God you're awake." Was the first thing she said to me. "I was starting to think you had died or something." Her voice was soft and friendly.
She flicked one of the cards that made up the bottom of the house causing the house of cards to go tumbling down. She crawled away from the pile of cards and over to the bars that separated us. As she did this, I couldn't help but try and scoot backwards. My back hit the concrete wall. I pulled my knees up to my chest and wrapped my arms around them.
"Hey, hey," She said calmly, getting my attention. I looked up and met her eyes. "I know you are scared, but you're gonna be okay." She reassured me. Something in her voice made it sound like she's said this all before.
"How do you know." I choked out. My voice sounded like I swallowed a cactus, but there was nothing I could do about it now. The corners of her lips twitched upwards.
"Ah, so you can talk?" She tried joking but failed. I wasn't in the mood for joking right now. It was silent for a moment before she spoke again. "You can come over here, you know. I don't bite." She said softly.
I pressed my back harder into the wall. I didn't trust this girl. I couldn't trust this girl. I just met her, for all I knew she was helping whoever's holding me here.
