Lauren POV

"Ugh, finally." I muttered to myself once I finally made it to the top.

I had fallen a few times, but at last, I found the light at the end of the tunnel. Metaphorically, of course. It was actually quite dark up here.

I tried to climb out of the box-shaped hole in the wall, but instead I fell gracefully into the floor. "Fuck," I muttered to myself.

"Lauren?!" Y/N whispered/yelled.

"Yeah, no shit." I pushed myself off the floor and dusted my clothes off.

I couldn't really see Y/N since it was so dark. I could barely make out her outline.

"What are you doing out here?! You're supposed to be down there, where it's safe." She scolded. I ignored her.

"Okay, how do we get out of here?" I asked, trying to get my bearings. "I can't see anything."

I walked a few steps forward. I bumped into something, heard a crash then the sound of glass shattering. Nice one, Lauren.

"Laur, are you okay?" I heard her footsteps patter against the carpet, she was getting nearer. Before she could get to me, I heard her squeal then a thud.

"Ow ow ow, okay, I have no idea what I landed on but it was sharp and pointy." She whined.

With a little effort, I pushed myself up off the ground. "Get up. Let's try and find a way out of here." I said.

I walked all the way in one direction until I bumped into a wall. I felt around for a door handle but couldn't find one. "This is just a wall." I confirmed.

"So do we go the other way?" Y/N asked. She kinda startled me because I didn't expect her to be so close.

I ignored her again, it was pretty obvious where we were going. I walked to the other side and felt around for a door handle. I found one this time. I pushed the heavy door open, light instantly came flooding into the dark room, and unfortunately, an ear-piercing alarm sounded throughout the entire building.

"Fuck," Y/N mumbled. She then grabbed my hand and pulled me along with her down the hallway. "We have to hurry up and get the fuck out of here."

The hallway was long with countless doors on either side. I looked back to make sure no one was chasing us, but sure enough the blonde lunatic that had dyed and cut my hair was running after us.

"Y/N, run faster!" I demanded, I passed her up but kept our fingers interlocked, dragging her along with me.

We got to the end of the hallway where there was a door that lead to a staircase and a window. Y/N went for the staircase door and tried to pull it open. Keyword: tried. She kept jiggling the door handle, but the door wouldn't budge.

I looked back to see the lunatic gaining on us, shouting incoherent words. "Any day now!" I rush, bouncing my knee impatiently.

"It's locked or something." She let out a frustrated sigh. "Use the window!" She said, finally giving up on the door.

"What do you want me to do with it?!" A part of me knew she wanted me to jump, but another part of me hoped she didn't want me to jump.

She rolled her eyes at me before opening the window. "I want you to jump. Hurry up before I push you out."

She helped me up onto the windowsill. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath an jumped out. I felt my stomach turn. I felt my body come into contact with the gravel ground. The fabric of my jeans ripped at my knee, and I'm pretty sure I scraped up my face and arms. Surprisingly, it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. Y/N landed next to me. She landed on her hands and knees.

"You good?" She asked, pushing herself off the grounded. I nodded and she helped me to my feet. "Come on, we have to keep moving." She started walking away in a random direction.

I followed her, a feeling of relief started taking over my body. We made it out.
