Her first instinct was to run but she had a crying toddler in her arms and a guitar strapped around her back. So she obliged and waited for the window to roll down completely.

"Haley? What are you doing out so late?" It was Dianna.

The pumping blood in Haley's veins slowed down, she let out a jagged breath she didn't even realize she was holding and just slowly took a calming breath.

"We were going to get something to eat." Haley replied. She finally noticed her surroundings and realized that it was pretty dark out.

"Mama, invite them for dinner." She heard a voice from the back seat.

Dianna ignored her daughter who was sitting in the back.

"Does your mom know you're out?" Dianna asked.

Haley nodded as best she could with Mae's head in the crook of her neck.

"So if I called her she could tell me where you guys are?"

"Yeah" Haley said. The two girls only go to so many places, their mom could take a guess and she'll probably guess right.

"Okay, when do you have to be home by?"

"Ten." Haley said. It was actually nine but as if her mom would actually notice.

"You two girls want to have dinner with us? Dianna finally asked.

"I see Maddie." Mae spoke up.

She had been silent for a while which is really unlike Mae especially around her older sister.

"Okay then you two get into the back." Dianna said.

Haley opened the door and saw Demi in a ballet leotard, she was moving farther in so Haley and MaeLynne could get in.

"Where Maddie?" Mae asked.

"She's at home. You'll see her soon." Dianna answered.

"Did you have dance?" Haley asked Demi.

"Yeah, I had ballet. It's my least favourite but I still love it." Demi answered.

"You a baweena?" Mae asked fascinated by the older girl.

"I guess so." Demi chuckled.

Demi pulled her backpack up from underneath her feet as they pulled into her driveway.

"Aye-Lee my tummy hurts more." Mae said burying her face into Haley's leg.

"What's wrong?" Dianna asked as she parked the car and turned to the back seat. All eyes were on Haley and the only noise in the car was made by Mae's whimpering.

"She's just hungry." Haley replied embarrassed.

"Oh, well let's get some food in your tummy." Dianna replied.

Mae clung on to Haley like a koala as they walked into Demi's house.

"Mae?" A young voice asked.
