If there's one thing Haley always felt, it was frustration. She felt stuck in her world. Her life was a routine and all she wanted to feel was freedom.

It was the first week of summer break and Haley and Mae have been going to Demi's house everyday. Haley would normally feel like an inconvenience when she would was over at someone house for so long but Dianna never made her feel that way.

After MaeLynne's tantrum Haley was very hesitant to invite Demi to her place again. She was relieved that Demi was able to calm Mae down that day.

The girls were all huddled around the TV watching American Idol. Demi laid on the couch resting her legs on Haley's lap while the little kids were sprawled across the floor.

"You know what my biggest dream is?" Demi asked Haley.

"What?"

"I wanna audition for this show." She started. "I want to make it all the way." She said.

Haley laughed at the female contestant on the screen  with a bad attitude and an even worse voice. "You're better than this girl." Haley chuckled and pointed at the TV.

Demi laughed and the girls cringed at the horrible audition performance that was being presented on the TV.

"No for real though, I think you'd make it to the live final shows." Haley admitted.

That put a smile on Demi's face. It was nice having someone believe in her. It  reassured her dream and shoved her doubts away.

Eventually the show came to an end and the sun was starting to go down outside.

"Mae, it's getting late. We should start walking home." Haley told her sister.

"I want stay. No go home Aye-Lee." Mae whined. They had stayed at Demi's house all day. Her parents were at work so the girls were in the house alone with Dallas, Demi's older sister.

"Mae, you have to go home so you can come back tomorrow." Demi said trying to help Haley out.

"No go home. Mommy mad at me." Haley cried.

Haley let out a deep sigh.

"Mae, mommy's not mad at you. She was just tired. Okay?" Haley told her sister. She was telling a slight lie to her younger sister but what could she do.

"No Aye-Lee! I stay with Maddie." Mae pouted.

"Okay then I'm going home by myself."

At the sound of that MaeLynne launched herself at Haley. Haley felt bad for her sister. She felt more at home at someone else's house than her own. The little girl was afraid to go see their mom.

"I'm sorry Aye-Lee. I listen now. No go home without me."

"I won't Mae. I'm sorry I even said that. I will never leave you." Said Mae.
