Falling for you

The meeting took way longer then it needed to and I finally was able to escape from the leaders and make my way to my room where Dipper is staying.
Taking a few turns I arrived at the golden door.
Opening the door I looked around to see anything out of place, and to my surprise I noticed that Dipper was curled up sleeping peacefully on my bed.
'He's so cute.' Swimming over I watched his chest rise and fall In a rhythmic beat.
'Well since he's asleep nows probably the best time to reinforce that spell again.'
leaning down I placed my lips on his and started to cast the spell, unfortunately for me Dipper woke up and pulled away before the spell could be completed his face turning a light pink tint.
"What the hell Bill!"
"What? I was just recasting that spell to help you breath." My golden frills twitched with annoyance, 'why do humans have to be so difficult.'
"Did you have to kiss me though?!"
"Yes I did, do you want to drown down here?"
After a few moments of silence he answered.
"...no."
"Alright then will you let me finish this spell."

'I hate him, yet I don't. I can't really explain it. Maybe it's just the fact that he stole my first kiss? Whatever the reason here we are, in his room kissing. I admit It's not as bad as I thought it would be, it actually felt...right? Although The constant nagging at my brain keeps telling me that this is very wrong he's a guy, not only that but a merman, and it's telling me to pull away. But I couldn't.'
It all ended so fast as Bill pulled away, and the odd feeling stopped although my blush didn't leave my face.
"Alright that should last a few more hours." He told me as he sat down, and an awkward silence filled the room.
"Hey um Bill?"
"What Pinetree?"
"Thank you..."

'He's thanking me? Why?'
"For what Pinetree?"
"For everything I guess. I mean you saved me and we'll I don't even think I deserve this." He replied.
I couldn't help but blush a bit.
"No problem Pinetree, but why do you think you don't deserve this?" This really caught my interest.
"The whole reason I'm out here was to capture a mermaid to prove my great uncle Stan wrong about you guys existing, Heck I even ran away without telling him." He pulled his legs to his chest. "I ran away from my home and boarded that boat thinking I was doing something right...for once..." Underwater it's hard to tell but it was noticeable he was on the verge of tears. Without thinking I pulled him into a hug and he let me, In fact he even hugged back. We stayed like that for awhile. He pulled away and just looked at me, suddenly I felt self conscious I don't know why I just did. A light blush appeared on my face and I looked away.
'Why is this happening?'

'He's getting embarrassed?'
"Hey Bill?"
"..yes?"
'Where did all his confidence go?'
"Do you know what time it is?"
"I believe it's about 2 hours past sunset, why?"
"Before I ran away from the tavern I told Mabel my plan and she supported me, although she asked me to make a promise that every night I'm gone we'd both look outside and look for the Big Dipper. It became kinda a tradition that when ever one of us went off to deliver alcohol to another town that each night we are away we'd both find the constellation. I know it sounds silly but-"
Suddenly Bill grabbed my hand and swam out of the room.
"Where are we going?"
He didn't respond and just kept swimming until we where out of the palace and heading towards the surface. It only took a few moments before we surfaced, it was dark out but I managed to see a large smooth rock that was a few feet in front of us.
"Here we are." Bill said as he gestured to the rock. Nodding I climbed onto it and Bill followed behind, and we sat down Bills golden tail hung off the side.
Looking up the sky was black and ominous, both stars and the moon was covered by black clouds.
"Guess we won't be able to see it tonight." I said sadly looking at Bill, but he was staring at something across the horizon.
"Well Pinetree I know your probably disappointed but trust me when I say that what I have in stores is much better then some balls of gas millions of miles away." Looking at Bill I noticed some of his scales glowing a dull yellow. Following His gaze I noticed something gleaming in the water.
"What are they?" Looking over at Bill again I noticed some scales on his face and arms started glowing a bit brighter a few scales flashing now and then.
"What are you doing?"
"Calling them."
It only took mere seconds before the water around us illuminated a light blue. Bill stopped and his scales went back to a normal dull glow but the glowing creatures in the water continued the bright array of blue creating a steady glow, they seemed like underwater fireflies as they all flashed and moved around.
They each started to combine together into different patters and swirls.
"What are they?" Never before have I seen such an amazing sight it almost seemed like one of Mabels fairy tales.
"They're shrimp." Bill replied.
"Their beautiful." Grabbing bills hand I watched the array of patters until I realized what they were mimicking. Looking around I realized they each made different constellations and star patterns that are commonly seen, Bill grabbed my attention by pointing out something, the Big Dipper.
'I can't believe Bill did all this for me.'

'Dipper looks really pleased, I'm glad I can do this for him. But for some reason I can't help but feel...sad? I know I can't keep him here forever and I know now I can't possibly kill him, because I now know why I've felt so weird around him...This thing I'm feeling is what humans would call love.'
"Bill are you okay?"
"Yeah I'm just thinking." I smiled.
"Alright." He then leaned his head on my shoulder.
"Hey Bill."
"What is it Pinetree?"
"I think I may be falling for you."
A light blush appeared on my face.
"Really?" I looked over and saw he was asleep on my shoulder.
"I'm falling for you too." I said knowing he couldn't hear me.
