As Shadowraven and Rose walked, he couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched. He scanned the area multiple times, only to find empty alleys. "I'm being paranoid..." he whispered to himself. The run in with the demon and the blood had awakened something else in him. His blood was roaring in his ears and his vision would sometimes go completely red. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted something move. His sword appeared in hands, the blood that was on it gone. Rose turned and saw Shadowraven. "What's up Shadowraven?" she asked. "Something's following us" he replied. Rose sighed. "Shadowraven, you're letting the run in with the, uh, demon, right?" she asked. He nodded and she continued. "You're letting the run in with that demon get to you. You should also change out of that blood stained shirt, you might get us arrested." she pointed out.
Shadowraven sighed and lowered his sword. As soon as he did that, a human shape jumped out at him from the shadows. Shadowraven kicked the person off of him and jumped to his feet as Rose ran to hide behind a dumpster. He spun to face the person, which was a girl with dark brown hair, piercing green eyes and in a bow. "I suggest you and your girlfriend get outta here, this is my turf." she snarled. Shadowraven simply glared at the girl. "First off, she isn't my girlfriend. Second, we were planning on getting out of here. We didn't man to intrude." he replied. She glared at him, unsure of whether to trust him. "You should've paid the toll then, kid." she spat. "What toll?" he asked, confused. He didn't remember seeing a toll booth.
"The toll for passing through my turf!" she yelled. "Since ya refused to pay in cash, you're paying in blood!" she charged him and punched him in the gut. Shadowraven only felt the cold numbness as she furiously punched him the stomach. Shadowraven, bored at her attempt, simply grabbed the girl by the collar of her shirt and threw her onto the sidewalk. She landed on her back, pain rocketing through her body. "What the h-" her sentence was cut short as Shaowraven grabbed her legs and tossed her into a wall. The girl stood up, dizzy. She felt something trickle down her face and touched it. She was greeted to the sight of blood.
"YA BASTARD, LOOK AT WHAT YA DID!" she yelled. She ran at Shadowraven and charged him. Shadowraven watched as her pupils dilated into slits and her nails grew long and sharp. "It's her..." he whispered to himself. The third descendant, daughter of Tigersoul. Her claws sliced at his skin, which somehow drew blood. She suddenly stopped and stepped back. She looked at her hands in horror. "No... No, no, no, not again" she whispered to herself. She leaped into the shadows, leaving nothing but a wallet behind.
Rose had noticed that it was eerily quiet. "Is it safe?" she called out. A few minutes of silence, which felt like years to Rose, fell. Then, a voice. "Yeah, come on out Rose" said Shadowraven. She walked out from behind the dumpster. She noticed the claw marks on his face. "Oh my gosh, are you okay?" She asked him, worried. "Yeah." he replied. "What happened to the girl?" she asked. "Oh her? Turns out she's one of us." he said. Rose stared at him as if Shadowraven had just grown an extra head. "You're joking." she stated. Shadowraven shook his head. "Descendant of Tigersoul. I should've suspected she was one of us from the beginning." he told her. "No way someone can move as fast as she did."
The girl sat in a small, makeshift hut a couple of miles away. "Why me? Why am I cursed with what ever this is? Why did that masked guy have to walk into my turf? Why did I choose to fight him?" she asked herself. "Mackenzie, get out here! There's a guy looking for ya!" yelled Tod. "I'M COMING, STOP YELLING AT ME!" she replied. She got out of her bed, but before walking out of the hut she stared at the small necklace she had. "If it's the damn service, I'm taking this with me" she muttered to herself. She picked up the locket, the only memento of her dead mother and father.
Mackenzie walked out and saw the masked guy (who she had started calling Mr. Raven) and his friend. "What the hell are you guys doing here?!" she snarled. "We're here to make a deal with you" said Shadowraven. Mackenzie stared at the boy. "What's yer deal?" she asked, trying to sound bored. "You come with us and we give you a place to rest" said Rose. "I'm not leaving my home" said Mackenzie. "Mackenzie, I thought you were looking forward to the day we could leave" said a boy. "Tod, go back to the house!" snarled Mackenzie. "No way! We're getting a place to live that isn't a dump sis!" exclaimed Tod.
Mackenzie looked over at her brother and back at the strangers. She wanted to give her little brother a better place to live, not this dump. She wanted to escape this hole too, but not with the people she almost killed! "Fine, but let me make a deal with y'all" said Mackenzie. "Tell us" said Shadowraven. "You guys let me take Tod along" she stated, trying to put in as much authority in her voice as possible. "Deal" said Shadowraven. Mackenzie smiled. "C'mon Tod, we're leaving this dump!" she exclaimed. Tod jumped up and a fireball shot out of his hand. Mackenzie suddenly remembered about Tod's strange "gift". "Two descendants? This is great!" exclaimed Rose. "Wait, descendants?" asked Mackenzie, clearly confused. Shadowraven pointed Mackenzie. "You are a descendant of Tigersoul and he-" he pointed at Tod "-is a descendant of Volcan" he stated.
"The weird dreams where the flame man talked to me!" exclaimed Tod. "Alright. So who are you two?" asked Mackenzie. "I am Shadowraven, descendant of Shadow" said the masked man. "I'm Rose, descendant of Fatewatcher" exclaimed the girl. "You have to choose your new name sooner or later, Rose" Shadowraven told her. Rose simply nodded. "I'll do it when I'm comfortable" she replied, smiling. "I'm choosing my name right now!" exclaimed Tod and Mackenzie. "What are they?" asked Shadowraven.
"Blaze, the Inferno!" yelled Tod. "He's a raging fire, then I'll be a raging soul! Tigerblaze, at your service!" exclaimed Mackenzie. "Welcome to the team" replied Shadowraven. As soon as he said that, a ball of darkness was fired at them from the shadows. "DUCK!" yelled Shadowraven.
