Shadowraven woke up, stretching and hearing several bones in his back pop. "We've gotta get beds..." He murmered, rubbing his neck. He and the rest of the team had slept on the floor, using a pile of sticks Blaze had ignited for warmth. The building had electricity, yes, but it didn't have a heater. Shadowraven got up, stretching. He looked down to see who else was up and saw Charmcaster missing. "Great..." He muttered to himself. He couldn't explain why, but every time he was around Charmcaster everything he did just felt awkward. He felt as if his hands were too big, his movements were too flashy, everything he did was show off-ish. He hated the feeling. He looked again, just to make sure Charmcaster really was up, and halted.
A smile spread across his face as he saw Tigerblaze curled up next to Angel like a housecat. Angel was hugging Tigerblaze, using her body for warmth. "You two have it so easy. You know when you're in love." He murmured, walking to the training room. As he opened the door, he saw Charmcaster spinning what appeared to be the staff he had handed her, smacking a training dummy made from tires. She leapt gracefully from the front of the dummy to behind it, hitting the areas where the stomach and head were. He smiled and watched as she spun the staff and smacked it into the dummy. The staff suddenly began to glow and released a bolt of purple lightning. "Eep"! Charmcaster squealed, jumping back in surprise.
She stared at the staff, then focused on the dummy again. She aimed the staff, thought of the purple lightning, and glared. "I don't know if this is the word, but let's give it a shot. Zamara." As soon as she said the word, a bolt of purple lightning shot out of the staff and into the dummy. "I can use magic! Yes!" She cheered, jumping around in excitement. She stopped jumping as soon as she heard a slow clap. She turned around, staff aimed at who was clapping. Her face suddenly turned as red as a tomato when she saw Shadowraven, a smile on his face. "Oh, um, hey Shadowraven..." She mumbled, unconsciously putting a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
Shadowraven smiled. "You got the hang of magic. That's good. Now could you help me?" He asked. The question took her by surprise. "Y-you want my help?" She asked. He nodded. "All I can do is use my sword and summon Ragnarok. I want to use my own magic though." He replied. "Alright, I'll help you." Charmcaster said determinedly. "Thanks." He said. Charmcaster smiled and shrugged. "Oh it's nothing, just a friend helping a friend out, you know? Plus, you're always doing stuff for me." She said. She waved the staff and the tire dummy fixed itself. Shadowraven stared. "How long have you been working on your magic?" He asked, looking from the dummy to Charmcaster.
"I don't know, probably since around five in the morning?" She replied. "What time is it now?" He asked. She looked at her watch. "Ten thirty exactly." She replied. "Five hours and you can already use spells without speaking them?" He asked. She shrugged, a smirk on her face. "I was determined to help. I can heal, attack, and summon." She said. Shadowraven's mouth dropped slightly. "You learned to heal, attack, summon, and defend in five hours? It usually takes people years to learn that stuff!" He exclaimed. She shrugged. "Magic is in our veins. We just need the right teachers!" She replied happily.
Shadowraven realized what she meant. "Fatewatcher was teaching you wasn't she?" Charmcaster nodded and patted his head. "You catch on quick." She replied. Shadowraven sighed. "So can I learn now?" He asked. She smiled and nodded enthusiastically. "You need something to channel your magic though." She told him. Shadowraven held out his arms. "I'll use my body and sometimes my sword." He replied. She clicked her tongue and shook her head. "If you're going to switch between weapon and body, be careful. Magic could backfire and blow up in your face."
Shadowraven nodded. "I'll be fine, Charm. I took on a dragon remember?" He said. "We. We took on a dragon." She corrected. He smiled. Dammit, why does he keep doing that!? Charmcaster thought to herself. "Okay, fine. You can probably use shadow magic or dark magic. Why don't you try saying 'Sombra Somin'?" She suggested. Shadowraven nodded and held out his hand, his palm facing the dummy. "Sombra Somin!" He shouted. Darkness surrounded Shadowraven and rushed forward like a tidal wave, knocking the dummy over. "Good, very good!" Charmcaster congratulated.
Shadowraven smiled. "What's next?" He asked. "Soromara." Charmcaster said. Shadowraven focused on the dummy, which was put back together, and breathed. "Soromara!" He exclaimed. Shadows surrounded the dummy, then dispersed. The dummy was gone, the only thing left behind was pieces of rubber. "Wait, did the shadows-" he was cut off by the door opening all the way and someone exclaiming in pain. He and Charmcaster looked at the direction of the noise and saw Angel and Tigerblaze staring at them. "Um, you two should kiss?" Tigerblaze said as Angel giggled insanely. Charmcaster blushed and Shadowraven glared. "She was teaching me magic. How about you and Angel go and find a different room to make out in?" He said.
It was Angel and Tigerblaze's turn to blush. "What we do in this room ain't your business, Shadowraven!" Tigerblaze hissed. Shadowraven laughed. "Then don't tell me and Charm to kiss." He suggested. "Now wake up the others. We're all gonna learn some magic." He said
