"Mama: The glue that holds everything together, even when she feels like she may fall apart,"

Bryanna Juliette Cooper

"Would you please excuse me for a minute or two," My mom says politely to the event organizers and heads over to me, engulfing me in a hug, she guides me to the hallway to the kitchen and sat me on a couch.

"Are you alright? What happened?"  She asks worriedly, as she lifts my leg on the couch. I flinch from her touch, and sheepishly answer, "I sprained it, didn't get to do the warm-ups properly."

"Maria, could you please get ice and please ask someone to look for a compress," Mom asks Maria- the house help that has been with them for 6 years. Mom trusts her with her life, and I do too as well.

Maria leaves the room, and mom starts to massage my ankle, making it feel a tad bit better.  "Where did you learn to do that?" I ask her, puckering my lips to point towards her hands on my ankles.

Mom smiles, and closes her eyes, as if she was reminiscing a memory. Once she opened her eyes, she sadly smiles at me, "I used to do it to your dad whenever he got sprains, he taught me what to do." She smiles once again and a tear escapes her left eye, which she quickly wipes away with her hand.

"Now, where's Bryan?" Mom asks, and I shrug. "Not quite sure."

My heartbeat quickens, at the thought of Bryan gone, I can't lose him.

Relax, Bryanna. It's only 15 minutes.

But what if something's wrong? What if Bryan's in trouble? What if something happened to him?

You're being paranoid, Bryanna.

"Hey," I heard Bryan's voice. My head snaps toward the end of the hallway, near the living room and Bryan stood there holding newly-bought crutches.

Relief washes over me as my brother walked to where we were. He gives me the crutches and I try them, it was perfect. Unlike those ancient crutches given by the clinic.

"Thank you," I tell him and brought him in for a bear hug.

"I also got you those ankle support stuff,"  Bryan smiles as he shows me a packet with black ankle supports.

I couldn't be any luckier than this, could I?  Well, aside from the series of unfortunate events, I could say that I am pretty lucky to have him.

Maria comes back with the compress in her hands, and hands it over to my mom- who wraps it around my ankle and secures it with a ribbon.

"Alright, I need to go back to the event organizers so, I'll check in on you later. Bryan, take Bree to her room," Mom smiles sadly as she stands up and straightens her skirt. She kisses the both of us on the forehead and went over the event organizers, as she said.
