"If no one thinks you can, you have to,"
-Marlen EsparzaBryanna Juliette Cooper
It's been a week since the results came. I was bummed out for a half of the week, and let's just say Jasmine gave me a two and half hour rant about it.
Imagine the pain I had been through when Jasmine was ranting. Let's just say I went through hell and back.
Let me enlighten you on what happened 3 days ago...
"Get up!" Someone shouts as they pull off my blanket. My blanket, bed, pillow and I have been the best of friends for the past few days, add a tub of Ben and Jerry's to the mix and you have my whole squad with you.
"No," I mumble and pull up my blanket and went back to moping around.
Whoever the person is, huffs and pulls away my blanket once again and throws it to the floor as well as my pillow. "Look, Bryanna, I'm so sick of you moping around, now get up," I open my eyes and see Jasmine with her hands on her hips.
"Then please leave."
Jasmine grunts and forces me to sit down. "Bryanna, I may have not known you for as long as the others have, but I know you long enough to know that this girl- this girl in front of me right now is not you..."
She takes a deep intake of breath, and continues. "Bree, you are someone who never gives up, I've seen you do your class work, and projects and you give it all you've got, even if you don't give a f.uck about it. And now, just because you didn't get the position you wanted means there's no tomorrow. Don't mope around, train harder, push yourself even more, prove the stupid coach that you deserve it. You're known for not giving up, don't let this stop you from doing what you love. See this as your inspiration to be better. Maybe that's just what you need, inspiration to push you beyond your limit, and make you a better player than you already are. Maybe you not being able to get the position, is not what you wanted, but maybe, it's just what you needed..."
And the rest is history.
She knocked some sense into me and I couldn't be more thankful. Lately I have been training harder, every morning and every spare time I have, the boys have been helping me improve and I'm thankful. Specially Tristan. He offered to help me train harder, even with his broken ankle.
It's currently Saturday, and I'll be going to the gym with the boys, I asked Jasmine to come with us, but she refused, and I quote: "Exercise? More like extra fries."
As for my dad, he promised to come and visit at least once a month, and he apologizes for not doing his job as a father to me lately. As for mom, she has been the rock of my support system, she was the one who was there when I moped around, she helped me day by day.
