I stiffen and try to get out of Davids arms, to my surprise Josh gently pushes me back down, his eyes pour out sympathy. The drugs start to cloud my mind, I don't know what they gave me but it is some strong shit. Tom looks at me, fear in his eyes, thats when my heart tried to jump out of my chest. My brother was never afraid, not when we were attacked, not when I was arrested, never. But now the wolves knew we were here, this was a game changer. I start to shake, the terror I feel over riding the drug, David starts to rub my back in an attempt to calm me down but it does nothing but make me struggle more. The Alpha is looking at us with nothing but pity and that is the last straw for me. I grow and claw my way out of Davids arms. He starts to swear as i leap out of his bleeding arms and lean against my brother who is tense ready to run. The Alpha throws his hands out like he is trying to sooth a wild animal which is pretty close to what is going on. "Calm down we aren't going to hurt, we want to help you. We thought all of the singer clan were dead. We have no desire to hurt you, for hurting Ava would hurt my son." Tom gasps as he puts two and two together, he relaxes a little and I just tense up more. I start to glance around frantically looking for an escape route. Wolves start to block every escape a few even wait in the trees remembering my last attempt at freedom. David is casting longing glances at me begging me to stay with his eyes. Tom tightens his arms around me, I sigh and relax a little knowing there is no escaping, there never will be, I am the Mate to a alpha mutt, might as well put on the shackles because i would never be able to do anything fun ever again.
Awkward silence surrounds us all as we sit in the mutts living room, David has his arm wrapped tightly around me and my brother is on the other side of the room, relaxed, he seems not to have a care in the world. My arms are crossed like a pouting child as everyone looks at me. I half expect them to start chanting speech. Josh clears his throat to gain our attention before he speaks.
"Alpha what is the singer Clan?" I wince at the name, at remembering the past. Tom and I lock eyes but we both know there is no escape. This is our fate now, if needed we can fight and take a few mutts down with us but the odds are not in our favor this is where everything will end for us. The Alpha looks at Tom and I before he awkwardly clears his throat and begins to tell my family history.
"Wolves are not the only shifters out there. At one point in time there was several kinds of shifters, over the years the hunters have managed to make a few extinct." He looks at us again before continuing on. "A few years back hunters teamed up with some rogue wolves to wipe out the last clan of a special kind of shifter. They were the Singer clan, they had royal blood in their leaders and they were made of warriors. The hunters and wolves waited until they knew the clan would be at its weakest. Then they attacked, and they wiped out the clan, or so we thought. It is said the grass now grows red from the blood of those who gave their lives." The Alpha almost looks like he has tears in his eyes as he tells the story. David looks down at me before looking at his father and speaking,
"What kind of shifters were they?" He looks at me, "What kind of shifter are you?" Tom steps in at this point.
"We are feline shifters. Based on our ranking in the pack which we are born into is what kind we are. The highest ranking on lions, second highest are cheetahs and so on down the line." He breaths in, looks at me and continues. "Ava and I are lions, our father was the leader of our clan. He was the first to go out into the fight, he told our mother to take us and run. When the fight got worse she went out to join him and she sent us into the forest. Once they realized not everyone was there they chased us. We almost didn't get away." David tightens his hold on me and I stiffen my spine in slight fear. I am in a house full of wolves, someone is not walking out of here alive. And on top of that whatever they gave me to subdue my withdraw is wearing off fast. This is going to be one major shit show.
