p.s. the dates and timings don't really matter so you can ignore if you want haha. it's just so that you know the chronological order of what happened in the past :)

YEONHEE

it took us months, but eventually, we managed to learn the way of humans and control our usage of powers in public. there was still no news from my side, while baekhyun was constantly on the run from his father.

both angels and demons have essences in them, and each and every essence is unique. in baekhyun's case, his essence was the most sought after as it gives one strength and power. and this meant that the demon king would stop at nothing to attain it, even if he had to kill his son.

as for me, i had no idea why i was following baekhyun around. no one has ever heard of a demon and an angel getting along, but he was humorous and with my prompts, he gradually opened up to me. it was interesting to know his side of the story, rather than believing in my bedtime stories about how we shouldn't even talk to demons.

he could get really annoying at times, but his silly antics never failed to make me laugh whenever i was feeling down. i could gaze at that face forever, and his laughter always brought butterflies to my stomach.

i didn't know who fell first, and i didn't really care. all i knew was that his presence put me at ease, and i felt safe in his arms.

and it was the start of many troubles.

the only person we truly trusted was baekhyun's cousin, kai. they were the best of pals, and baekhyun didn't hesitate to confide in him whenever we were on the run.

the three of us became very good friends and never ran out of topics to talk about. although baekhyun and i were on good terms, we did bicker at times. during such periods, kai would appear by my side and comfort me if need be. i merely treated him as a good friend to rant to, and he seemed alright with that.

how wrong was i.

it was only when baekhyun discussed about marriage that all hell broke loose. we were forced to be on the run once again just as we thought everything was finally fine. later on, we learned that the informant was kai - the last person we would have thought of.

since then, we broke off all contact with him. the last thing i heard about him was that he was wandering around carelessly and got caught by my dad. it made me wonder if my dad knew about what he did - if yes, why hadn't he found me yet? the fact that my family wasn't actively searching for me got me worried.

baekhyun became quieter, and i decided to leave him alone during moments like these. i knew he was brooding over kai - they were crazily close after all. all i could do was give him my support silently since they knew each other a long time ago and i was definitely in no place to judge their brotherhood.

we ended up settling in a small town, named aomori, in japan. it was quaint and tranquil - a perfect place to hide in.

"i can't do this anymore." i huffed and threw myself facedown on the floor. baekhyun sighed and pulled at my arm, trying to get me to stand up again.

"come on now, " he said. "practice makes perfect."

"no." my response was muffled by the cushion that i buried my face in.

just when i thought he'd given up, i sensed him lying down next to me. hot breath tickled my ear. "if you don't get up and work on your skills, i'll kiss you."

my eyes widened as my heart raced. in the blink of an eye, i scrambled to a sitting position and glared at baekhyun. he chuckled and ruffled my hair.
