Chapter 27

Ai's POV

After a week, Ryosuke~kun planned for another date again. He told me that he will be busy starting July. Because of tapings and concerts. He also said that he wanted to spend the remaining days of June with me. Of course, I'm really happy. I didn't think that things are going to be this great after those problems.

So tomorrow he'll go here and we'll have a date at my home. Ureshii yo!

My phone rang. I looked at the screen. It's Nagi. I excitedly answered my phone. I want to tell her the things that happened to me after I was discharged from the hospital! :-D

"Nagi!!!" I exclaimed, excited.

"Ai, the robber was caught already," she said straight forwardly.

"Huh? What robber?" I wondered. My brows furrowed.

"The robber that stabbed us," she answered flatly.

"What? But I was the one who--"

"Tomorrow will be the first trial of the court hearing. I need you to come and witness for the crime he did," she continued.

"Nagi, I can't blame anyone for the thing that I've done. You don't need to go this far to protect me," I said, high pitched.

"See you tomorrow. I'll be waiting," she said and hung.

I was startled... That robber thingy is a lie and I can't pass the blame to anyone...

My phone beeped. A text message from her...

"You need to come tomorrow. This will be for the both of us. Don't do unnecessary things. I'm counting on you. 8 a.m. tomorrow, at the supreme court." she texted.

What should I do? I don't know what to do...

I wasn't able to sleep tonight...

The sun rose... I don't have strength to get up. Even my body don't want to move. I thought there will be no problem anymore... But why is this happening right now?

My phone rang. I looked at the screen. It's Ryosuke~kun. I wanted to answer it but I didn't move an inch. He called again and again but I just let it rang.

I sighed. I stood up. I need to face this. I may not know what will be the result but I need to go there... and do what Nagi told me.

At the supreme court. Both sides stated their client and the defendant which is the robber. The Deputy District Attorney and Public Defender stated their open statements. That the defendant is accused of robbery and attempted murder resulting to major physical injury. The Public Defender stated that his client is not guilty. I gazed at the face of the accused robber, his eyes are blank and he's just staring blankly into space... seems like he's in trance...

The judge called for the first witness and it's Nagi.

The bailiff took Nagi to the witness stand.

"Please stand. Raise your right hand. Do you promise that the testimony you shall give in the case before this court shall be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?" the clerk stated.

"I do," Nagi answered.

But today, the opposite will happen... We will turn the lie into truth...

I looked at Nagi. She's looking straight, chin up, no emotions. No one can ever tell what she's thinking... She's ready for this and she already made a decision.

I should do the same... But which decision should I make? To tell a lie and save myself from the crime I did. Or to tell the truth and be imprisoned but the secret of Nagi and Ryosuke~kun be revealed. It's my conscience versus the people I love...
