Leo's P.O.V:

When I got back in my yard, my mom came handed me a box out of the car. She led me inside and upstairs. She lead me into one of the smaller rooms upstairs, " Leo, this was your room before we moved," she said calmly.

I looked around the room trying to remember my life ever being here. Something on the wall underneath the window caught my eye: A small heart carved into the wall. In the middle of the heart it said, Leo + Kim= BFF. Did I write that when I was a kid?

"Mom, what's that?" I questioned and pointed to the heart.

My mom smiled, " Oh, Kimberly was over one time and you guys were watching a show where they carved their names on a tree and then you guys went upstairs to play. I went to go check on you and I found Kimberly carving into the wall," she explained.

I stared at the heart again. Kimberly did this? That girl next door who looked as sweet as can be, never do anything wrong girl, did this? I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I need to know more about this girl. Was she not the same girl anymore?

"Mom? Tell me more about Kimberly," I say wanting to know who my childhood friend was.

"Not right now, we have to unpack."

Later in the evening, we finished unpacking. We were all exhausted and wanted to go to bed. I was laying on my bed texting one of my friends from my old town, when I started to drift off to sleep.

I followed her in the backyard as she handed me flowers and I held them in my hand, hold her bouquet.

"Aren't these black-eyed susans beautiful, Leo?" she said as she leaned towards the bouquet in my hand.

"Yes they're lovely," I say.

Six year-old ,Kimberly hugs me happily. "These will be our flowers at our wedding!" she exclaims, squeezing me tighter.

"Yes! But first I have to propose!" I protest.

"Do it now!"Kimberly insists, tugging on my free hand.

I shrugged my shoulders and slowly got down on one knee, " Kimberly Fynch, I love you! Will you marry me?!" I shout making her giggle.

She jumps into my arms and knocks me to the ground, landing on top of me. "Yes Leo! Of course I will!!" Kimberly practically screams.

She then kisses my cheek.

I awake from my dream. Why was I dreaming about Kimberly as a little girl? Was it a memory demanding for attention? I have no idea. What if my mind was just making up a story? Or was it a memory I once had? The questions sprouted in my mind.

After crawling out of bed and getting ready, I decide to go outside. I walk around in my front yard for a while. I see Kimberly walk out of her house wearing a sweatshirt and flannel pants. I watch her walk to get her mail. She looks over at me and takes me awhile to realize why. I'm staring. Shoot! I wave casually. Kimberly waves back and starts walking over to me.

"Hey," she says with a bright cheery smile as she approaches.

"Good morning," I say and smile at the ground.

"Did you finish unpacking?" she asks.

"Yeah, for the most part," I reply.

"That's good. I guess my parents invited you guys over for dinner, that should be fun," Kimberly smiles trying to get me to talk more.

"Yeah," I say, shrugging my shoulders. Then I remembered the heart on the wall," I found a heart on my wall yesterday, my mom said you carved it when we were kids."

Her face lit up," That's still there!?" she exclaimed, her blue eyes widening.

"Yeah, my mom thought it was pretty strange too," I say.

"I can't believe that's still there, after all those years!"she said still surprised, then her face saddened,"That was not one of my proudest moments, my mom found out about it and made me come back over to apologize.... Sorry, it must be hard telling you memories you don't.... well... remember," she said now sounding sad, "Leo? Can I ask you something?"

I nodded.

"What do you remember about me?" Kimberly asks , her eyes looking concerned.

"Nothing," I say, seeing the hurt in her eyes.

"Nothing at all?" Kimberly questioned.

"No, I don't think so.. I mean, I had a dream and you were in it. It was really strange though. You were little and talking about getting married to me," I explained, hoping it wouldn't be awkward.

"Oh yes! We planned on getting married when we were kids, you actually even proposed to me," Kimberly giggles then stops," Leo? Your dream, it was a memory," Kimberly states.

"What?" I say sounding surprised.

A memory? From our childhood? I actually remember!

"That dream wasn't just a dream, it actually happened," Kimberly said smiling.

No way! I thought I didn't know anything about her. How could I? Why did I remember that memory specifically? I have no idea.

"That's crazy," I say softly in awe.

"Yes Leo, it is, but you actually remember!" she says smiling again.

Kate flings her arms around my waist and hugs me tight. I stood awkwardly.

We were sitting on the curb, talking about her birthday. She loved talking about herself.

"My birthday is coming up, what are you gonna get me?" she asked leaning her head on my shoulder.

" I can't say, silly, then it won't be a surprise anymore!" I laugh.

"Just tell me, I promise no one else will know!" Kimberly begged.

"Fine. fine. My present is gonna be the best because you can't get it from anyone else," I say.

"What isssss itttt??" she was begging with suspense.

"I'm gonna give you a big kiss like you've always wanted," I tell her.

Her face lit up and she hugged me tightly."Really!?" she squealed.

I snapped out of it. Kimberly had already let go.

"Hey? You okay?" she asked.

"Yeah it's just..."

"Another memory?"she asked as if she could read my mind.

"No, I should go," I say walking away.

This wasn't possible. I can't have flashbacks of something that I can't even remember anymore. I'm probably just over thinking.
