I leave the hospital with a smile on my face, only limping slightly. Evan has his arm around my waist to steady me, his smile nearly as wide as mine.
"Come on then," He says as we reach his car. "Lets go back to college."
I grin at him, that one word seeming like heaven to me. College. I've missed it.
"Did I miss anything?" I ask while fastening my seat belt.
"Not really, it was just the usual." Evan shrugs, seeming quite distant.
"Oh?" I tease, elbowing him playfully. "Was it not different without me?"
I get a smile out of him. "Nope. None of us missed you at all." He keeps his eyes on the road and drives us to college, stopping off at Subway half way through the joruney.
"Will we look for flats today?" I wonder, food in my mouth.
"Sure! But first we'll get you back to college, because Aria and all probably want to see you. But, they may not. I mean, its you. Who would want to see you?" Evan grins.
"Hurtful!" I pout.
He laughs and hugs me. "I've missed you, I suppose." He smirks.
"Missed ya too."

We arrive at college and our first stop is our room. When I open the door, a huge shriek bounds out of ten people's mouths. "SURPRISE!"
I gasp, my hand covering a broad grin that has spread across my face.
"Guys!" I laugh as Aria and Faith come over.
"Hey guys!" I smile. After we hug, I get a proper to chance to look at how they've decorated the room. There are mint green balloons on the ceiling, and I wonder how I'm going to get them down. Mint green candles sceent up the room, along with a row of cards on the window sill and presents at the end of the room near the radiator.
"Mark!" I laugh in susrprise as I spot my friend among the crowd of my closest friends.
"You surprised?" He says as we hug.
"Very. Who organised it?"
"Take a wild guess." Mark smirks, nodding over at Evan.
"I'll be back," I rushedly say to Mark. I race across the room to Evan, hugging him from the side. He laughs and pulls me towards him, resting his head on mine.
"What was that for?" Evan asks with a smile on his face and he head cocked to the side.
"For organising this!" I exclaim, and suddenly I realise why he hadn't been telling me much about college in the car.
"Ahh, you're welcome." He says, placing a kiss on my head. "I think Aria and Faith have a present for you," He says with a twinkle in his eye.
I smile back at him suspiciously, then walk over to Aria and Faith, who are laughing with Mark.
"Ah! Sam! We need to show you your present. Its a real good one." Faith says.
"Any hints?" I question as they're dragging me across the hallway towards the carpark.
"Well, if you could have any dog in the world, what type would you have?" Aria grins, locking eyes with Faith.
"A brown Springer Spaniel, but why?" I say by instinct, and I see their smiles widen in triumph.
Then it clicks. "You didn't. Did you?" I ask, half panicked, half excited.
"Maybe." They look at each other mischievously.
"But... But what about the principal? Are we allowed pets here?"
"Ahh, don't worry about her. She understood, and you'll be moving out soon anyway, so he'll only be here a few months. Anyway, if you couldn't look after him because of studying, you could always ask your parents to mind him." Faith babbles, climbing into her car.
"C'mon, enough worrying! Lets go pick up your dog!"

Minutes later, I'm standing in front of my dream dog. A springer spaniel with white fur, brown ears and around the muzzle, along with little specks of brown on his side.
"I'm gonna name him Angus." I smile as I rub Angus's belly.
"He does look like a Scottish dog," Aria comments.
"Perfect." Faith grins.
We thank the owner and stop off at a pet shop to get him supplies.
As we're in the shop, I ring Evan.
"Ev, we need to get a flat today."
"What? Why?"
"I got a dog."
"Wow! What did you name him?"
"Angus. He's a Springer Spaniel."
I hear Evan laugh on the other end of the phone. "OK, well, when you get back we'll go looking for a bungalow, because it will be more suited for a dog, because it has a garden and everything." Evan says.
I smile. Our own house sounds perfect.
"OK, see ya in ten."
"Bye!"
Aria comes up to me with a tartan collar and lead, and Faith comes armed with poo bags, food, bowls, and a book on how to train a dog. I grin in appreciation at their contributions, and together we choose at toys and a bed.
"So, today Evan and me are gonna get a bungalow! It'll be better than a flat, because most don't allow dogs, and Angus will have a garden and stuff in a house. It'll be nicer."
"For Angus or for you?" Aria grins, one eyebrow raised.
I laugh. "OK, I admit I'm looking forward to living with Evan in a house, because it'll feel more proper. You know what I mean?"
"Yeah." Faith agrees. "Will you guys share a bed?" She asks with curiousity and excitement.
"Maybe, maybe not." I shrug, grinning sheepishly.
"SAM!" Roars Aria. I laugh as she continues. "You guys will get a lot closer living in a house together, rather than a flat. I don't know why, but you'll be like cooking together, doing everything together. And a house will probably be nicer than a flat."
I agree and we purchase our items.
I'm buzzing with excitement at the thought of living with Evan. An apartment was big enough, but a house is serious stuff.
We get back into Faith's car and I sit in the passenger seat with Angus on my lap; with his new lead and collar. We're surrounded by all of his priorities that we recently bought.
Angus let out a big sigh once the car started moving and collapsed on my lap, his head resting on my knees.
"He's so small," I whisper to no one in particular, cupping his head with one hand and using the other to stroke down his small slender body.
"Well he is only six weeks old," Aria states matter of factly.
I don't reply, just keep stroking him. He sighs again, a deeper one this time. Angus rearranges himself so his head is on my stomach and his bum on my thighs. He looks up at me with big brown eyes, sighs again, and burrows his head into my torso.
"Thank you, so much. I don't deserve you guys." I say to them appreciatively.
"Your welcome," They chorus.
Angus rolled onto his side and I stroked his side, giggling at the licks he gives my hands.
"You ready to meet Evan?" I ask Angus, and he looks back at me blankly, gives my face another lick, and settles back down. "I'll take that as a yes."
