Nine years later...
Lucifer paced the living room, cradling his sleeping baby in his arms as he hummed a soft lullaby to her. It was almost four am and Mika had been crying for a good two hours. Him, being the good father he is, decided he would get her back to sleep and let Sam rest. A lot had happened in almost ten years. Dean and Castiel had gotten married and had two children, Tristan and Ross. They had moved to a small town on the west coast somewhere, but they visited often.
Lucifer glanced down at his child, smiling softly. She had finally fallen back asleep. He laid her down in her crib, brushing her red curly hair out of her face. He placed a kiss on her forehead, and then turned to her brothers crib and placed a kiss on his forehead as well. Turning back to the door, he headed for the room he shared with his beautiful wife.
It was only a matter of days at this point, and he wanted to cherish them with his family. But how do you enjoy your time when you know in the blink of an eye you will never be able to see them again..
- the following morning...
"Daddy! Daddy!" Levi cheered, reaching for his father as Lucifer walked into the kitchen. Lucifer smiled, leaning down and placing a kiss on top of his head as he sat down beside him.
"What's up little man?" He laughed, grabbing a piece of bacon off of Sam's plate earning a smack to the hand from her.
"Can I color your arm? Please daddy?" He pleaded, struggling with his words as he was only two years old. Lucifer sighed, handing him the markers and watching in amusement as Levi proceeded to color in his tattoos.
"How did you sleep my love?" Lucifer asked, turning his attention to Sam as he used his free hand to play with her hair.
"Like a baby, thanks to you. If you wouldn't have gotten Mika I probably would have gone insane." She laughed, feeding a spoonful of apple sauce to Mika.
"She's my baby girl, I don't mind putting her back to bed." He replied, smiling at his little family.
"Luci..."
"Don't Sam. Please." He cut her off, not wanting to hear her say the words. He only had three more days with them. He didn't have to be reminded.
"You can't keep running away from the fact that you're going to die Lucifer. I don't want you to go, I don't care if I have to sell my soul for you to stay. I'll do it. They need their father. I need you." Sam choked out, a single tear rolling down her cheek.
"Why's mommy crying?" Levi asked, watching as Lucifer wipe away her tear.
"Its nothing baby, I'm okay." She said, forcing a smile.
"You're not selling your soul. They need their mother more than they need their father. I won't let you." Lucifer said sternly, leaving no room for argument.
"But our kids birthday of all the days Lucifer... Its going to scar them." She whispered.
"I know... I know baby." He sighed, hanging his head.
He ruined everything.
