Chapter 9

Danny

"What the fuck did you just say?"

"You heard me asshole! Now get out!" Toni yelled.

"Well who the fuck is the father?"

"Im not telling you." Toni calmly said.

"So your ass out here cheating and not using protection? Then you want to be bold and secretive. Do you remember my promise to you?"

"Our vows?" Toni asked rolling her eyes.

"No. The one promise when I said that I would kill you and that baby."

I walk towards Toni and she backs into the wall. I grab her neck and began to choke her.

"All you had to do was be a good girl but no you had to be a little tramp."

Toni began to claw at my neck and then my eyes.

"Ahhh!"

I let go of Toni and began to rub my eyes frantically. I looked around to see Toni no where in sight.

"Toni where the fuck are you! Don't run now come out and talk all that shit like you were earlier!"

I went in the kitchen and Toni was in the refrigerator getting ready to cook dinner.

"So your just going to act like nothing just happened?"

"Danny if you come near me I promise you'll regret it." Toni stated with her back to me.

"So are you going to tell me who the guy is or not?"

"Didn't I say no earlier!" Toni yelled frustrated.

"So are we getting a div-."

"Yep. Toni said cutting me off.

"You got one more time to cut me off or get slick out of your damn mouth!"

"Bite me." Toni mumbled.

I walked over to Toni and pushed her. Toni sat on the floor defenseless.

"See you're nothing and you'll be nothing. I trusted you and you betrayed me. Women like you are the reason why good men like me turn into assholes!"

I began to to walk away.

BING!

Toni

I got up off the floor and walked towards Danny who was laying on the floor. I had threw a pot at him and it hit him in the back of the head. Then his head hit the counter very hard.

"Danny? Danny! Answer me Danny!"

I ran to my cellphone.

"Ken get here quick I think something bad has happened!"

15 Minutes Later

"What's wrong Tone? Where's Danny?" Kenny asked running in the house.

I pointed in the kitchen. Kenny walked in and saw Danny laying on the floor.

"Baby what happened?" Kenny asked nervously.

"We had an argument, I got mad and told him he wasn't the father. He got mad, hit me then pushed me when I told him I wanted a divorce. Then I threw a pot at him and hit him, he then hit his head on the counter."

"Okay. I want you to go lay down and calm your nerves." Kenny pecked my lips.

Kenny

I can't believe this I know Danny was going to find out eventually but damn this is far from how I thought things would go.

I walked up to Danny and placed my fingers on his neck praying for a pulse.

"Damn it."

I picked up Danny's lifeless body and put it in his truck. I then drove to a secluded place.

"I'm so sorry Danny it wasn't suppose to end like this. I know I'm your cousin and this is betrayal but I've been in love with Toni since high school. I pray you can forgive me but the heart wants what the heart wants."

I walked back to Toni's house and cuddled up with her.

6 Days Later

"The Edmonds Family has suffered a great lost. Danny was a pilar in the community and an advocate for excellence. Danny you are loved and will be missed dearly". Rev. Howard said.

Behind my shades I searched the faces of the people at the funeral. Seeing my family this hurt over my selfishness was killing me inside. Danny was more than my cousin he was like my brother. I looked over at Toni sitting next to my aunt crying her eyes out. She looked so pitiful and miserable. We haven't talked since the day after Danny was found dead.

"Damn this chicken good." Melvin said amazed. "Bro you ain't never lied." Kevon agreed.

I was deep in my thoughts when I realized Melvin and Kevon were staring at me grinning.

"What the fuck y'all looki-" I trailed off.

"Y'all assholes ate my chicken!"

Kevon and Melvin laughed their asses off.

"Bro calm down its not that serious." Melvin and Kevin said in unison.

I looked over at Janet comforting Toni. I slightly smiled noticing that Toni wasn't crying anymore.

Janet

"I'll be right back Toni I need to go to the restroom."

I quickly got up and headed to the restroom. I turned on the water and began to cry my eyes out.

"This can't be true how could something like this happen." I thought to myself.

RING! RING! RING!

"Hello?" I said into the phone.

"Hey baby what's wrong why are crying?"

"Because I've just left a funeral and my emotions are everywhere." I say sadly.

"Baby cheer up it isn't the end of the world. Hey I bet you're so beautiful right now." 

I began to blush as he started telling me how amazing I was.

KNOCK! KNOCK!

"Baby are you okay?" Kenny questioned.

"Yes I'm fine."

"Baby I've got to go." I quickly hang up the phone and fix my hair.

I open the door and look directly in Kenny's eyes.

"Are you sure you're okay baby?" Kenny questions again.

"Yes." I peck his lips then fix his tie.

We walk back into the main area hand in hand.
