No One Can Know

Chapter 24

Kenny

"Why didn't you get off the interstate and follow them?" Toni asks confused. "Because I think it's  a trap. There's two vehicles behind us. One is a car and the other is a truck. Every time I speed up they speed up, every time I slow down they slow down. The interstate is better for our safety."

Toni looked back and turned around with a worried look on her face. I probably shouldn't had told her that but she deserves to know. I grab her hand and kiss it as we cruise down the road. Soon the two vehicles are right on us. 

"Baby hold on!" I yell to Toni as the vehicles trap us between them. "Kennnny!" Toni screams before ducking and a bullet shatters the passenger window. I look over to see the people getting ready to shoot again and I slam on the breaks. The two cars speed down the road the abruptly stop. I quickly cross the median in the road and head in the other direction. 

"Toni baby are you hit?" Toni shakes her head as she trembles with fear. The cars zoom up again and I quickly take an exit. We end up on some dark, quiet back streets going dangerously fast. I run through 4 red lights and turn several corners but the cars are still on me. 

I look over at Toni and I can tell her mind is racing. What I want to do I can't because she's in the truck. I don't care what happens to me but if something happened to Toni I don't know what I would do. The boys need her and our new blessing will too. I don't want Toni to be a single parent but I know she won't for long, she's too beautiful. A guy will snatch her up and treat her 10 times better than I have. 

"Toni, when I drive through this alley and turn this corner I want you to quickly get out." I nervously say to Toni hoping she doesn't ask any questions. "Ok. And wait for you where?" Toni asked looking worried. "Baby I love you and I," I start but Toni quickly shuts me up. "No Kenny! I can't what about the boys what about the baby! I need you too!" Toni begins to sob and I quickly grab her hand. "Look I promise you that I'm coming back. When you feel it in your heart meet me where we had our first date." I reach over and grab Toni's face and kiss her quickly. 

I drive through the alley and turn the corner and Toni pecks my lips one last time before hopping out. I speed off into the darkness noticing that the cars are right behind me. I turn another corner and another SUV hits me head on soon everything goes black. 

Toni

I can't believe that I agreed to getting out the truck. We could had got away from them and lived happily ever after. I stay standing in the darkness as the two vehicles fly around the corner. I hear tires screeching and a huge bam and my heart sinks. I pull out my cellphone and call a cab hoping and praying that Kenny will be safe. 

Its been 5 months since I last saw Kenny and every day gets harder. I'm 7 months pregnant but its been and easy pregnancy because of the boys. Last month Benjamin's name got changed back to his birth name. So he goes by Bentley now and he has been practicing playing the guitar and he's very good. Jessie is trying to be brave but deep inside he misses Kenny a lot. He has changed so much because of the incident. 

Danny

"Look if you're going to kill me just do it!" Kenny yells at me. I can't help but smile at his anger and determination for death. As much as I want to kill me I won't, well not right now. "Cousin now why would I kill you. I mean yeah you left me for dead then had my momma crying all day and night but that's old stuff." 

"What the fuck do you want?" Kenny asks calmly. I can tell his mind is racing and he might give in to almost anything. "I want my baby." I proudly say while pulling a chair up to him and taking a seat. "Hell no! Toni is mine and will always be mine!" Kenny yells and I shoot him in his right shoulder. "You bitch! You wouldn't be so bad if you didn't have that gun!" Kenny yells again and I pistol whip him. "Is that a challenge cousin. I warn you I'm not the same boy you grew up with." I chuckle before walking off.
