Hunted

Chapter 17

All the wolves soon settled down, awaiting for the pack leader to begin.

Welcome everyone! He mid-linked to all the wolves.

Today is a special hunt. We will be running up to Canada to hunt the well-known jelen. But before we begin, we have a new wolf with us!

The wolves all looked around, then slowly they all began to look at me.

Everyone, welcome Luna! Come on over to me, so everyone can see you.

I slowly rose from my haunches and walked up, looking only straight ahead. Soon I was standing next to the Alpha. All eyes were on me.

Now I know this bit of good news wont really hep after what we recently went through. But hopefully having a new wolf will help take everyone's mind of things.

I looked around in confusion. Suddenly none of the wolves wanted to make eye contact with me anymore.

So, The Alpha continued, I know some of you wolves showed a whole lot of courage when this grave event happened, but one particular wolf helped us all in many, many ways. So Jake, come on up here too!

All the wolves parted to make a path for Jake, and a huge thundering sound arose from the clearing. Every single wolf was stomping their paws, making the sound I just heard.

They're applauding...

I thought to myself, watching Jake walk up.

Quiet down, please. The Alpha called out, then waited for all the wolves to stop, then he turned to face Jake. 

Jake, you have shown a extremely large amount of courage and you brought hope to all our hearts, guiding us through tough times. You show great hunting and leadership skills, and you can remain calm in times of distress. So Jake, you have really earned this. You are no longer scout. Everyone, Jake is now a Hunter!

A huge roar of thunder came from one section of the wolves, presumably where the other Hunters were sitting. Chants came from around that section, and not much quieter applause rose from every other wolf.

Thank you! Thank you so much! Jake thought to everyone, but directed it to Alpha. The two rubbed noses, which I thought meant a handshake. Jake looked at me with happiness, and smiled the best a wolf could.

Wolves, settle down. The Alpha called out, then once again waited until everyone was quiet.

A full moon shone above the clearing, illuminating everywolf. They all stood up, as if they knew what there was to come.

LET THE HUNT BEGIN! Luna, The Alpha added quieter, follow us as we run to Canada. Then we hunt.

Without another word, every single wolf began to run in one direction. Jake ran up next to me, followed by Dog. 

Let's go! Jake mind-linked to Dog and I.

Then we joined along with the pack and began to run.
