Terrence POV (Earlier this morning/to present)

I wake up to my parents screaming at each other about ME of all people. I get up and put my ear to the door to listen to what they are saying about me.

"YOU HAVE TO TELL HIM MARGRET OR I WILL, HE IS NOT A BABY ANYMORE" My step father yells at my mother.

"shhhh James he might hear you, and you know that he doesn't need this shit right now OK?" Mother said sounding  scared. 

I didn't know what they were talking about, tell me what? I had a good relationship with my step father, he used to be a great dad. He was always taking me out to football games and taking me with him to work just because he didnt want me to be alone with mother. She would always hit me for no reason, nothing I did was good enough. I later found out she was on drugs real bad. She has been sober for 6yrs now and our relationship has grown, but she doesnt show much love because James is hard core now. He doesnt talk to me anymore unless hes putting me down telling me I aint shit. Its like they changed roles and Ive been stuck in the middle.

"GO WAKE HIS ASS UP AND  TELL HIM OR I WILL" James says as I hear footprints coming towards my room.

"NO James, Ill tell him, but please give me till the end of the day" mother pleads with him.  I hear the footprints retreating and I take a deep breath. I'm with my mom on this one, right now isn't the best time to give me any bad news. I walk away from the door and to grab some clothes out the drawer and jump into the shower.

After gettting showered and dressed I decided I needed to talk to mom. I walk down the stairs an into the huge kitchen to find mother sitting at the table drinking her coffee. I look around and I dont see James anywhere, so I take advantage of the moment.

"Hey Ma, can I talk to you for a min?" I said as I sit down next to her at the table. She looks at me with sadness in her eyes, like she was upset before I even said anything. I used to laugh at her when she cried because that's what she would always do to me, but at this moment she looked like she was gonna break down. 

"Woah Ma what's wrong?" I said with concern in my voice.

"Oh nothing honey just didnt get much sleep, now what is it that you wanted to ask me?" She said not sounding convincing but I let it go and asked her  "When I move do you wanna come with me? You dont have to stay here with James mama, I can take care of you" 

She looks at me like I just asked her a forbidden question. She looks around as if she thinks James will pop up outta no where and yell at her. I can at least say this, he hasnt put his hands on her since I turned 16. Im way bigger than him and he knows that if it came down to it I could beat his ass. The only thing that has stopped me from doing so is this is his house and i have nowhere else to go. I also didnt like that fact of leaving ma here with him alone. 

"Terrence why would you ask such a thing? You know that I love James, why would I leave him?" She said sounding unsure of herself. I take the opportunity to remind her of everything he's done.

"Mama he doesnt love either one of us, all he does it go to work and is gone till midnight. You and I both know he doesnt work from 9am to midnight, so what could he possibly be doing? What about you ma, he never treats you with respect and he's always talking down to you.. You are not his maid or his servant" I said getting a lil angry

"How dare you sit here and accuse him of not loving me, or you. We wouldnt have this nice house and nice cars and things without him. Hes done so much for the both of us, especially considering your not his son. He may not always be nice in what he says or what he does but deep down I know he loves us.. As for the hours he works , how do you think we have all these nice things? He works for them and that means being gone from your family to make sure they are provided for son.." She said sounding as if she really believed what she was saying.. I looked at her as if she was crazy.
