Lana's POV

"Oh, hey X-Xander" I greeted as I held the mop in my hand.

He stopped after giving me a small smile before greeting me back, after doing so he was about to make his way behind the counter but I grabbed his wrist holding him in place.

He gave me a confused look as I gaped at him like a fish out of water, unable to explain my actions I let go of his hand.

"Is there something wrong, Lana?" He asked as he leaned against the counter.

Avoiding his antagonising gaze I averted my eyes only for them to land on my uncles friends, one in particular was staring at me a burning hunger glistening in his eyes.

I swallowed down a gulp of saliva after running my tongue over my dry lips, the nerves inside me were causing a volcano in my stomach just waiting to burst.

"C-can I talk to you for a minute" I said as I ran my hands down the front of my apron, my palms sweating.

"Sure" he said uncertainty clear in his voice as he moved away from the counter.

Letting out a quiet sigh I grabbed the mop and bucket placing them behind the counter before exiting the diner through the back door.

The cold air hit my face as I exited the diner, it was eight pm and the sky was dark and filled with shining stars, taking in a deep breath I turned around to face Xander who was smoking a cigarette.

"What did you want to talk about?" He said after inhaling the toxic fumes before exhaling.

"I-I, how...shįt how do I say this" I muttered as I paced back and forth.

"What happened that night" I questioned making Xander stiffen.

"I don't think now is the time for thi-" he said.

"W-wait what!?, what do you mean 'now is not the time for this!?" I exclaimed as I threw my hands in the air in frustration.

"Lana you don't understand, it's just not safe-" he whisper yelled at me before throwing the cigarette onto the ground, crushing it under the balls of his feet.

"Bullshìt, I have a right to know Xander!" I yelled.

He quickly pushed me up against the brick wall covering my mouth with his hand, lifting his other hand in a 'shh' motion indicating for me to be quiet.

I heard the sound of rustling in the distance making my heart pound, as Xander pulled me down behind one of the bins to hide.

"Where did that little fûcker go?!" I heard a deep voice say.

My eyes looked up at Xander who was perfectly calm, while my body shook in both fear and the cold.

"You mean Xander?" Another masculine voice said.

"No bloody SpongeBob fūçkîng SquarePants" the other voice said making me snicker inwardly.

"That show was the shįt"

"Come on you dumbfūcks back to business" a very familiar voice said.

I felt a tug on my arm making me look up to see Xander nodding at me to follow him. Crawling behind him I followed him as we made our way through the alley way, only for me to accidentally bump into a bin.

My heart pounded hard as I was lurched forward by Xander who began to sprint, running behind him the sound of shouts and gun shots rang in my ears like alarm bells.
