Five
It's been weeks since my kiss with Max and that's all I am thinking about. That and the feeling that was filling my entire being.
Wake up!
I wiped away the little droll forming in the corner of my mouth.
And the most annoying thing in this whole situation is that he didn't even call or texted! An entire week! I know that because I was checking my phone like crazy every 10 minutes. I know I am becoming obsessed.
And you don't even have a reason to. It's not like he's your boyfriend or something. Plus you are the one that kissed him and then ran away like a retarded person.
I hate to admit this, but the voice in my head was right.
I have been avoiding Max every day at school. I have been the one making the physics class tensed. I have been the one feeling annoyed about the fact that he didn't contact me. And don't let me begin with the times when our skins accidentally brushed touched, sending shivers through my body. I have been the one that kissed him and then walk away. Then why am I making such a big deal out of this?
Maybe because you care?
Not a chance! I threw the basket ball again and it made a few circles around the ring before falling down. For the millionth time this afternoon the ball missed the center of the hoop. That's what I do when I'm down. I play basketball and I miss every shoot.
"Need some cheering up?"
I turned my face to see Alex standing in front of me in her cheerleading uniform.
"What do you got for me?"
She let the sports bag fall to the ground as she tried to cheer me up.
"Where have you been?" I asked and Alex's bright smile suddenly disappeared from her face.
"Cheer practising." she said, her voice becoming shaky a thing she does when she's lying.
"No, I mean this whole week? I bearly saw you once."
"Well, I've worked at the physics project and Beth put us through ten laps because her best friend made out with her perfect boyfriend." I could see that my question upset her. "I'm going to dance."
She left. She looked herself in the little studio behind the basketball field. That's what Alex did: she looks herself in the studio and dances. My parents wanted to support our passions, so the built me a basketball field and a dance studio for Alex.
I let the ball fall as I made my way to the room. After I took a hot shower, got in my pajamas and dragged myself to my bed with a book in my hands, I heard a knock on my door.
"Come in!" I yelled.
Behind the massive cream door popped Alex's little head.
"I come bearing cookies."
"What kind of cookies?"
"Cookies-I-am-sorry-I-got-upset-over-nothing-and-with-oreo-inside-kind-of-cookies."
