During dining in pleasure, Rachael and Lucas' father have been giving each other disturbing glances for the past- well from the moment they arrived. I, for one, have been contemplating whether or not I should bring up the topic that's been bothering me for the past three hours since I've been here. It seems much longer than just three hours but I guess it's because I passed out for a while. Speaking of, what was that dream even about? What did it mean?
"Earth to Joella," I raised my head from looking down at my plate playing around with my food. "did you hear me?" Rachael asked.
"Huh?" I breathed out. Rachael and the others looked at me concerned until I gave my best smile. "No, I'm sorry. What'd you say?"
"Is there something wrong that you're playing with your food? That isn't like you," she asked. I looked down at my plate and saw that I almost made a mess. I sighed. Everyone began to chuckle as I quickly brushed back the grains onto my plate.
"Joels, maybe you should pay more attention to what you're doing." I sternly glared at Lucas as he spoke. "Are you okay? You don't seem like yourself."
"Perhaps she is somewhat caught up in a daze that blocks her consciousness. Could she possibly be half awake from the incident early?" Lucas' father mentioned.
Rachael smirked a little and so did everyone. "Don't be ridiculous," Marcus said. "If she is I'll just smack her again then maybe she'll be fully conscious." he laughed awkwardly. Then everyone began to join in the laughter. Everyone but me.
I slammed my palm onto the table as I stood firmly. "Is this some kind of joke?" I whispered.
"Joels, what's wrong? Speak up." Rachael said as the others continued chuckling and chatting.
"I said- Is this some kind of joke?" I yelled. Then the entire room went silent. "What the hell is going on here? Rachael, why are you and I here? Why is Lucas, my classmate who is practically my kidnapper, here? What reason do you all have for bringing me here when I'm supposed to be in the hospital or, as I'd plan, with Max? Or was he in on this too? What's this news about taking me to my "real" father, and exactly who is this guy?" I asked angrily pointing to Lucas' so-called father. "Someone better explain everything right now!" I demanded.
"Joella, calm down, this is not-" Rachael was saying walking up to me as she placed her hands on my shoulders but I interrupted her.
"No! I will not calm down." I said as I shoved her hands off of me.
"Just relax, Joella. She'll explain everything but right now please stay calm." Lucas said as he held onto my hand trying to stop me from squirming out of his grasp. At that point, I was like a loose cannon. At any moment I could go off. There was a surge of energy building up inside of me as I felt myself going on overdrive with rage. I was so aggravated that I felt like I could throw the most diva tantrum anyone has ever seen or even flip the entire dining table if my questions were not answered.
"No! Stay away from me. I need to know what's going on here." I yelled as I angrily threw Lucas to the other side of the room. It felt good like I could do anything. I wanted to feel that power again, it was addictive. I didn't even think about how I had done it. Suddenly, a ravage wind began to circulate swarming me and I was feeling more and more powerful with every breath I take. It was amazing. The wind threw back everyone about ten feet away from me. It was like armor and staff, a defense and an offense. When I stepped forward, it moved with me. I was the center, like the eye of a tornado. "This feels so... good. I feel like I can do anything."
"Joella! You have to wake up!" Rachael demanded. All of my senses and abilities were heightened. I could hear the cheers from a nearby bar about fifteen minutes from here, the beating hearts of children playing on the street twelve minutes away, I could see the tiniest dust particles floating in the air around me, I could even see through walls if I so desired, my sense of smell was so keen that I could smell the different scents of people, animals or even objects. There was so much more I could do but then that all started to drift away as I sensed a familiar scent approaching the mansion. I felt my consciousness return as I slowly sank to the floor in exhaustion and a sense of panic as the adrenaline passed.
"What happened to me?" I slowly said as tears fell from my eyes.
"It's okay now, Joels. I'll tell you everything but as of now, we have to get you into some new clothes." Rachael said as she embraced me.
"I'm so sorry." I cried out. Everyone seemed glad that I was okay but they had no idea what was going through my mind. I glanced down at myself and realized my clothing had been torn to shreds and one of my breasts were exposed. I quickly covered myself as I noticed Lucas and the others, except for K.C., staring at me. I glared at them as I threw my shoes at Lucas and Marcus.
"Calm down Joella. It's no big deal besides it's nothing we haven't seen before." Marcus joked as he emphasized the word 'big' and started snickering and Lucas joined in chuckling a little.
"You pig! I wonder if you'll continue grinning you teeth when whoever it is outside steps on the mansion's grounds." I smirked. Then everyone looked at me weirdly. "What?" I asked.
"See now, that is where you're wrong." Marcus started. "Your abilities may have been awakened but they're unstable. So how could you possibly know if-" he paused abruptly and scanned the room.
"Rach, what's he talking about? What abilities?" I asked curiously. Rachel simply covered me up with a cloth and looked into my eyes with a saddened expression.
"Everybody shhh! Be still and be quiet." Lucas stated. K.C. also scanned the room as he seemed to have taken a whiff of the air? What is he? He's acting like a dog.
"It seems she's right Marcus. Someone is approaching the mansion and quickly," K.C. confirmed.
"Well, who is it?" Marcus growled. Lucas looked at Rachael and they nodded in sync.
"It's Max Woods."
