I caught up to Ren in the hallway. "Ren," I called. "What was that?" Ren turned towards me, a ferocious look on his face. I swallowed hard.
Ren was more than just angry. "Why do you let him talk about you like that?" He asked viciously. "He's a fucking prick that doesn't deserve to be here."
I was silent. I didn't know what to say to that.
Ren looked over my face, waiting for an answer that I couldn't give. He sighed and shook his head. "You're ex-military." He said quietly. "Stand up for yourself, Val, because no one else will."
I was silent.
"See ya tomorrow."
I was left standing alone in the hallway.
A medic rushed past me into the cafeteria. Another was following a few paces behind. I grabbed his arm and looked at him. I smiled a little. He blushed.
"Excuse me, Valentina, but I have to attend to someone." He said trying to duck away.
I pushed him against the wall and put my hand next to his head. I looked over his face. "My room, eight o-clock."
He looked at me with questioning eyes, but only nodded.
I moved away, and he ran off.
