Chapter 6

“Her powers are telekinesis and she can draw the energy from living things,” Talia said, awe filling her voice.

“WOW! So that means she can suck all the energy out of me?” Drew asked and Damon grimaced.

“Well… not exactly she can only take what her body can hold; if she were to try to take energy from 20 powerful supernaturals she might very well kill herself in the process.

For that much energy to be out of their bodies in the air it might create a shift in the balance of the world and magic and that can be very dangerous hence why, Damon, looks so displeased,” Talia said.

 I looked at Damon and she was right except I thought there was more that they weren’t telling me.

“What aren’t you guys telling me?” I asked and they all looked uncomfortable so I turned to Damon who was sharing a look with Rehana when he caught me staring at him.

“Um…I’ll tell you when we are finished training okay,” He said. I nodded my head in agreement.

“Alright, well we will start you off with hand-to-hand combat,” Rehana said and Chad stepped forward with two swords and he threw one to me. I caught it with my right hand.

Chad proceeded to teach me how to hold the sword and a couple of moves. Everyone was pleased to see how quick I learned. In just a couple of hours, Damon, wanted to see how well I could fight so he asked Chad to fight with me.

“Begin,” he said and the fight began.

Chad lunged with amazing speed and swung his sword to hit my right side, I blocked quickly and turned around delivering a roundhouse kick to his head. He stepped away holding his head and I laughed, he looked up and glared at me. He lunged forward, I stepped back and brought my sword around and he ducked and took a swipe at my feet I quickly jumped and brought my sword down but he jumped away.

I looked up and he grinned at me. I stared at him then suddenly he hurled his sword forward and it was heading straight at me after that it was like everything went in slow motion I saw everyone one in the room looking at me with a horrified expression except Chad he looked at me as If I knew what I was supposed to do. Then it hit me. My attention zeroed in on the sword, I concentrated and then I felt it like something pulling in my brain then I stared at the sword and it stopped an inch in front of my face hovering in the air. I DID IT! I used my telekinesis; I looked around the room and saw a shocked expression on everyone’s face and I looked at Chad and saw a grin on his face.

Then my blood started to boil. He threw a sword at me! How could he guarantee that I would have been able to use my power? I turned the sword around and threw it back at him. He dodged it and I turned it back to him and he grabbed another sword from the rack on the wall and he started to fight with it.

I used my mind to fight now and I wasn’t even tired yet but I could see Chad’s movements becoming sluggish and that when he made a mistake. His grip loosened on the sword and I parried it away and put the point of my sword to his throat. I walked up to him and grabbed the hilt of the sword and kicked him in the shins and made him kneel with me standing over him.

“I win,” I said. Then everyone started to clap. Damon picked me up, twirled me around and kissed me.

“CONGRATS, that was awesome,” he said. Everyone congratulated me; even Chad got up and shook my hand saying it was a great fight.

“Well that’s enough, for today, its dinner time so let’s got tidied up and meet in the dining room,” Rehana said and everyone dispersed. Damon and I began to walk side by side up to my room.

“So tell me why you looked like that when you found out what my powers were?” I asked him. He frowned like he wished I had forgotten, then he sighed and we stopped in the hallway in front of one of the portraits. It was one of a man who looked like Damon. I read the name and it said, ‘King Alexander (1200 – 1806)’.

“This was my father,” he said. Wow he died a long time ago. Then Damon began the story.

“He had the same power that you do except he tried to use his to become stronger. He was power hungry and deranged and one day he ordered the Vampire Council, which was made up of the five oldest most powerful vampires: Claudius, Cian, Zaceillia, Setriana and Tetran to meet him in the courtyard behind the old castle where they lived. Once they were there he tried to suck the energy out of them and they fought it but in the end he could hold the energy and his body ended up exploding and the energies expelled into the air creating a shift in the balance and almost killing us all if Cian hadn’t sacrificed himself to fix the balance. He absorbed all the stolen energy into himself and used an old powerful incantation to transfer himself into the balance where his power would repair it. The extra energy was expelled into the atmosphere where it became negative energy and it created the most horrible creatures ever seen, they were cast off into the Forbidden Forest. They are called Nightmares. Now my mother rules the Colony until I’m ready to take over.” He said with a drawn expression on his face.

“I promise I would never do anything like that,” I said. He looked at me and gave me a weak smile.

“I know and that’s not what I’m worried about, you see…” He said then stopped like he couldn’t get the words out.

“What is it?” I asked him.

“You see Setriana was Cian’s mat and when he died she was heartbroken and she passed a law saying that anyone who had that particular power who ever that person may be, be he or she royal or not… they were to be put to death,” He said with a strained expression on his  face but all I could concentrate on was that one word.
