Chapter 12

When I woke up I looked around only to realize I was not in my own bed then the events of the previous day and night flooded back into my head. I saw a note on the bedside table and saw a note. I picked it up and it said:

You were tired so I didn’t wake you. I had Sonja pack your bags and they are in the car. Come down to breakfast when you wake up

I got up and went through my normal routine. I wore a pair of black skinny jeans with a long sleeved tight black top that helped to emphasize my breasts and I wore some light mascara and eyeliner.

When I got down to the breakfast table, everyone one was silent and as grave as last night but that wasn’t what caught my eye. A boy around Damon’s height with blonde hair and golden eyes was sitting next to Rehana with his arms around her while she leaned into him. Liam, I presumed, Rehana’s boyfriend.  He stared at me as I sat opposite Damon.

“Good morning everyone,” I said and received mumbled good morning’s from everyone.

“Hello, you are Schuyler I presume, Rehana has told me a lot about you, I am Liam her boyfriend,” He said offering me a small smile. I gave him a small smile back and muttered a polite ‘nice to meet you’.

“We will be leaving after breakfast is done,” Damon said and I nodded.

When breakfast was done we headed to the cars, everyone, including Liam it seemed he was coming with us to help find Talia and offer moral support for Rehana. Damon, Abigail, Drew and I were riding in Damon’s car while Chad, Liam and Rehana rode in Liam’s.

I sat in the front seat with Damon while Abigail sat in the back with Drew. At first I thought that Abigail sitting with Drew was going to be a problem but through the whole drive there they were both absolutely quiet.

When we arrived I was literally gawking at the place. It was humongous even compared to our palace and that was saying something. It was about 5 storey’s high with humongous Pillars supporting the Balconies. There were Rose vines climbing along the sides of the palace. In front of the house there was a drive way with a fountain in the middle. We parked the cars then got out while some servants came out to fetch our bags. They bowed to Damon and me and while Damon nodded at then I gave them a smile and said a quick thank you.

When we entered the house a butler appeared and showed us to the drawing room where Arianna was sitting staring wistfully out of the window.

“Hello, my dear children,” She said turning to smile at us.

“Mom!” Rehana yelled and hurled herself into her mother’s arms. Arianna started to smooth her daughter’s hair. Damon walked to her and but a kiss on her cheek. I went to her and hugged her but it was awkward because Rehana was still curled in her arms.

“Hey aunty,” everyone else said.

“Arianna, is your aunt?” I asked them puzzled.

“No, she just doesn’t like formalities with us so we call her aunty,” Chad explained.

“Oh,” I said. Arianna sighed.

“I know this isn’t the best time to bring this up but I feel something in the Forbidden Forest…I can’t explain it but it seems more malevolent than usual,” She said staring out the window again. When I looked out I saw a vast expanse of forest dark and looming. Then it was like something just slammed into me, I could literally feel the negative energy coming off of the Forest in waves, it felt wrong. Evil.
