"Heroes are just victims that learned to protect themselves." - Kahl, Metro 2033

Two days later...

"CITIZENS! LOCK YOURSELVES INTO YOUR HOMES! LURKERS ARE ATTACKING!" A military guard screamed at the top of his voice, alarm sirens rang and people were frantically screaming and searching for lost family.

Meanwhile, the teenage family of eight were collecting their guns and ammo, ready to fight the beasts. They hastily shoved their way through the crowds and lined up next to the few soldiers pointing their guns at the vents and gate into the sewers.

There was growling and lashing until Lurkers tore open the vents and gate, charging at the protectors. A couple even pushed through the ceiling!

Leo, with his unnaturally good aim, shot at the monsters rapidly with his 22 gun, not missing more than six times. The rifle was equipped with a silencer, so that helped with him not being attacked because lurkers could not see, but hear.

(NOT MANY PEEPZ KNO WHAT A 22 GUN IS)

Karai and Casey shot their AK47's at the monsters, as well as Raph with his shotgun, Mikey with his hunting rifle, April with her pistol and Donnie with his magnum. That was ninety-percent the reason why most of the Lurkers were going for them.

Leo was snapped out of his thoughts when he saw a Lurker leap towards his line of vision. Time slowed dramatically as the beast got closer towards him, more than ready for the fatal last blow. Leo didn't possibly have enough time to defend himself.

But, before he knew it, a Dark One, out of the blue, appeared in front of him. It held out its hand and time went to the norm. The Lurker ended up with it's head in the Dark One's grasp, being crushed.

The tall creature dropped it's lifeless corpse and, in a blur, whirled around to face Leo. The said young adult stared up at the being and dropped his weapon. It fell to the ground with a clank.

The two seemed to be in a telepathic connection, where they were one, it was him and he was it, a staring contest. All sounds, sense and time was blocked out where only the two could be. It was peaceful.

"LEO!" Came a yell from Michelangelo, interrupting the connection. The Dark One quickly looked at the teen before disappearing with a small amount of black mist being left behind.

"THERE WAS A DARK ONE!" Donnie shouted as well, sounding panicked.

"What happened?"

"You okay?"

A wide array of questions showered down into Leonardo. He felt crowded and sick. He wanted to shut them up and continue with his thoughts, but he remained calm. "I don't know!" He said.

"Let's go, leave the soldiers to clean up before we have to." April smiled and the seven hastily made their way away from the south gate.

While on their way towards the fireplace they were previously sat, Karai was thinking. As the others talked and laughed, Leo had been silent and zoned out.

What is it with him and Bitches (Dark Ones)?

He always acts strange around them?

Why do they keep going to him?

"Karai! KARAI!" Casey Jones shouted while waving a hand in front of the sad girls face. She slapped it away and yelled 'what!?'.

"We're here! Jeez..." He scoffed and sat down with the others. Karai rolled her eyes as sat next to Leo and Donnie.

"Leo, when the Dark One was in front of you, why did you just stand there?" Donnie asked curiously. "You also survived a Dark One attack AND aren't catonic!"

Leo looked at Donnie for a small while. Should he tell him? He didn't want to because he felt like this 'connection' with that particular Dark One was supposed to be kept secret. He felt like he was one of the Dark Ones and that 'he shouldn't betray his kind'.

"I don't know, why would I know!?" He exclaimed, getting a little aggressive. Great... He thought. Now they'll get suspicious...

"Yeeeaaaah...." Raph dragged on the agreement sarcastically. It was obvious in every way that he didn't believe a thing.

"Whatever! Change of subject: why isn't father home yet?" Mikey asked worriedly and looked around. They eight had been trying to find their sensei ever since the night Leo came out of the medical ward.

"Yeah!" Leo yelled loudly, but quieted after receiving stores from passing civilians. "Where did he go last?"

"Last time we saw him he was going to his stall, to exchange ammo. But then he said something about going through Liberty, the nearest station." Casey said while holding a finger to his chin, as if he was thinking!

"We told him: 'bad area, bandits everywhere, but NOOOOO he didn't listen." Mikey whined, not meaning any offense, of course.

"But, we can't look for him NOW. We don't have the ammo or weapons." April announced and smirked proudly at receiving hesitant nods from MOST of the gang.

"We do." Karai and Leo said in unison, standing up and smirking even more proudly than April. "Lowly peasants!" Leo laughed.

"NO! NO NO NO WAY! No. Way! You both can't go alone!" Raph sneered and crossed his arms after standing as well.

"Why can't we Raph?" Leo asked in a sweet, but menacing and sarcastic tone.

"W-well..." Raph stuttered.

"Yes?" Karai asked in the same tone as Leo.

"W-well, you're a w-w-woman... And, Leo's... Nervous..."  Raphael stuttered quietly, and uncertainly muttered the last part, while looking away from the teens.

"WHAT!!??" Leo and Karai screamed in synchronisation and... Let's just say that there ended up being a fight, and many civilians ended up betting money and drinks for who would win.
