On the way back to the house I watch the landscape. I'm not really up for talking to anyone. I watch the trees zoom past as I think of the girl.
She may or may not help. Not only did I probably scare the crap out her but I just dragged her into a life and death situation. She might die because of the desicion I just made.
I try to clear my mind as we get a little closer to the house. The house, that's all it is to me. It is all I will call it, the house, not home. I don't have a home anymore.
I get slammed back from my imagination when Ben hits the brakes. The car slides on the road, rain water splashed everywhere. We finally come to a stop, we are parked in the ditch. We almost hit a deer. After a couple of minutes we got the car out of the ditch and started toward the house again.
Once we actually get back we say nothing about the deer, it really wasn't that big of a deal I guess, no one got hurt. I go upstairs and lay on the bed.
I didn't even get the chance to close my eyes before all of the girls made me get up.
"Show us the dress!" Cassidy said excitedly.
"Guys I'm so tired," I complained.
"Oh come on, it'll only take one second," Cassidy pleaded.
"Fine," I said making them get out. I change into the dress and put on my shoes. I have never really been a girly girl but I have grown used to it over the past month.
I open the door and let them in. They look at the dress with awe. I laugh a little.
"What do you think?" I ask.
"I say yes to the dress!" Carmon says.
"Thank you," I say.
"Now please let me sleep, I need a little nap before I have to go," I say making them leave once again.
"Okay fine, you'll get your beauty sleep," Cassidy leaves hands up.
I lay in bed and instantly fall asleep. I wake up to breathing in my neck. I jump and see Damon looking grumpy.
"Wake up, you have two hours to get ready," he walks out slamming the door. I don't know what makes him so angry but I find it very unnecessary.
I get up and shower. I comb my hair make it perfectly straight and untangled. I put on a light layer of make up. A smokey eye shadow and a bold red lipstick to match the dress.
I decide to do nothing with my hair. I still have an hour yet to spare so I don't put my dress on yet. I am so nervous. I have prepared for this for a month. This is my first job and I feel like all of that practice wasn't enough. This is the real deal and I have no idea what is going to happen. I have to lead the guy outside the bar to a isolated area using my looks and persuasion. I'm trained and prepared but I'm also nervous.
Once I have only a half hour left I put on the dress and black heals. I look at myself in the mirror and sigh. I look good, but do I look good enough is the question.
I go down stairs to find everyone waiting for me on the couches. I give a nervous smile to the girls.
"Come with me Skylar," Derek says leading me back up the stairs. If only he knew how hard it really was to walk in heels. I'm pretty good at it now.
I follow him into his office and he hands me a file.
"His name is Simone Fritz. He is high risk. Be careful with what you say because he wouldn't think twice before snapping your neck. His weakness is alcohol and girls with pretty smiles. Lead him into a cab at 9:45 p.m. Damon will be driving. He'll drive you guys to a small house we own in the city. Lead him in for a drink and we'll be waiting, just for a chat."
I look at his picture trying to proccess all of the new information. He has dark hair and a beard. He seems very muscular and tough but I guess that's why he is high risk. I feel my hands shake as I read all of his felonies.
I have to do this. If I mess up I don't think I will live. I only get one chance.
I get in the car and we drive. I smile and practice what I'm going to say. I think of outcomes and don't like any of them. Before I know it I am walking in the front door of a club. There are a ton of people. I strut through the crowd toward the bar. I lean over the counter and confidently ask for a drink. I take a seat and wait for my drink.
I am stirring my drink when I smell a strong cologne. I look to my left and see him next to me. He gives me a slight glance then orders a drink. He sits and gives me another glance. I give him a smile and go back to my drink. I don't look at him again. I won't say anything till he talks to me. I know he will, I just need to be patient.
He gets his drink and is silent for a few minutes. I finish my drink and I start to get up to rush him.
"Wait," Simone grabs my wrist, "let me buy you a drink."
"I just had one," I tease.
"Another won't hurt," he smirks.
I smile and sit back down. So far everything is on track. We talk for a little while about nothing special and once I finish my drink I ask him if he wants to continue this at my place. He smiles and stands with me. We start to walk out of the crowd, he grabs my hand. I'm glad he did the crowd almost swallowed me.
Right as we are about the leave out the door he pulls me to him with a death grip on m hand. He pulls me around the corner.
"I know who you are, do you think I'm stupid?" he speaks with venom. His grip on my arm tightens when I try to get away.
"I'm sorry, I had no choice," I say barely above a whisper.
"Life is full of choices, like how I'm choosing to kill you,"
