"Don't you miss all this?" Metatron asked Cas. We had been through three of his safe houses and found nothing. So we took a break and found a diner to eat.
"No I don't miss digestion or indigestion - "
"No I mean don't you miss the feeling of all of this?" Glancing over at Cas, I noticed his harden glare had softened, Metatron had struck a chord. "Like the taste of these waffles, the sound of a child's laughter. Look at us, we're a couple of angels who have touched not only the divine but the mundane. You and I have a lot in common," he clarified. Hearing him say things like that made me a feel a twinge of sympathy for him.
"Don't." Cas retorted.
"What? I thought we were having a moment. Can't we be besties?" Metatron whine, I shoved a piece of omelet in my mouth and rolled my eyes. Cas leaned forward and I began to feel nervous that he would do something rash.
"No, because you killed my friend," he growled. Metatron leaned back in his chair.
"Oh Dean is fine - mostly. Can't you get passed that?" he asked. I had forgotten that Metatron had been the reason behind Dean's death and all the sympathy I held on to disappeared.
"Never." Cas responded curtly. After another quick dispute Metatron leaned forward, obviously uncomfortable. Cas and I shared a glance of confusion. "What are you doing?" he asked.
"I think I need to use the little boys room," he groaned. "Little help?" he asked putting his cuffed hands forward. Cas looked at me then stood up.
"I'll finish up here then meet you two back at the car," I called out to them.
Finishing up my omelet and bacon I paid for the food and waited by the car. I circled the car, stretching my legs, I didn't know how long it would be until the next stop. Rounding the car I stopped in front of a trucker man with a beard and beer belly.
"Oh hi, can I help you with something?" I asked. The man just stared at me, like he expected me to know him but he didn't look familiar.
"Are you traveling with the corruptor's of Heaven?" he asked, his voice angry. I began to take steps back. He couldn't have been a demon, he would've attacked already.
"If I am?" I returned. He said nothing, but he continued to move towards me until the klutz within me tripped on something and I fell on the ground. The man took his chance and lunged at me. I tried to scream but he held an angel blade against me so I immediately went silent. He moved us to the front of the car. We weren't there long before a muffled voice came from the back door.
"Let's never speak of it again," Cas's voice grumbled. When they rounded the corner and saw me and the figure Cas tensed.
"Metatron and Castiel," the man's voice went low and turned into a laugh. "This really must be my lucky day, two birds on blade." I struggled to get free but angel put his knife a little deeper inside of me, I winced then stopped moving.
"Don't hurt her," Cas commanded. "Who are you?" he asked revealing his own angel blade.
"Just a cupid. Just an angry, angry cupid. Don't move any closer or I won't hesitate to kill her," he threatened. Cas stopped moving, his eyes trained on me then back to the cupid.
"I understand, you're upset but hurting an innocent girl won't help you," Cas spoke calmly but assertively but the cupid ignored him.
"You both corrupted Heaven! It's never going to be the same!" I took my foot and stopped on his foot. The cupid got angry and shoved me against the car making my world fuzzy and disoriented. I heard struggling and once my sight cleared up I saw the cupid hovering over Cas with the angel blade about to kill him. My heart stopped, breathing stopped until Metatron got behind him and stabbed him from behind. All that held in air came out.
