After a few hours of performances, Director Fury appeared on the stage and everyone fell silent.
"Hello everyone and thank you for coming here to celebrate this day. For those of you who have been with S.H.I.E.L.D. for years, you know why we're here, you know why we celebrate this day. You were here to experience the defeat and the triumph, but, for those of you who have recently joined us, I will explain. Four years ago, while we were still based in the US, we took a massive hit. Hydra came out from within our ranks and S.H.I.E.L.D. fell. The three helicarriers we had built to oppose the bad guys were used against us. Black Widow, Captain America and Falcon had to go against friends and enemies alike to defeat Hydra. In order to flush them out completely, Black Widow dumped all of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s files on the internet for the world to decrypt. The whole world shut us out and no-one trusted the name S.H.I.E.L.D. anymore. I faked my death and moved here, to the UK, along with my best agents, to reform S.H.I.E.L.D. underground. We celebrate this day, 31st May, because this is the day that S.H.I.E.L.D. became fully operational after the events in DC, S.H.I.E.L.D. Resurrection Memorial Day. This is the day that our South London base went from our second biggest base to our only base. I had been here before, most of the time that I wasn't in DC, I was here and some of our best agents were based here but to lose the Triskelion and our connections around the world was a huge loss and S.H.I.E.L.D. has had to be remade from scratch, unknown to the world. Today is the day four years ago that we won the fight. Since then, we've taken down hydra base after hydra base, cutting off every head of hydra so that no more can ever grow back. We have won!"
Everyone cheered and lifted their glasses.
"To S.H.I.E.L.D.," said Fury lifting up his glass of champagne.
"To S.H.I.E.L.D.," everyone replied and we took sips of drinks.
"It's a shame Natasha can't be here," said Chloe.
"I know," I replied. "She's one of the main reasons why S.H.I.E.L.D. is still here and she can't even be here to celebrate.
"I'm sure she's celebrating by herself at the hospital," said Chloe and I smiled. 'That's why I love you' I thought 'you care so much about others'.
