The next day at 8:00am I was on my way to tactical room three to plan for the mission when I saw Captain America and stopped to chat.
"Hey Cap," I said.
"Oh hey Anaiya," he responded.
"Thanks for your advice about asking Fury to let Chloe and I go on a mission together but it turned out Fury had planned a mission for us anyway so it wasn't me who suggested it."
"Is that where you're going now?"
"Yeah I'm on my way to tactical room three to plan with Chloe and Fury. Cap, I can't stop thinking that something bad is going to happen and I don't know what to do about it."
"Maybe you should ask Fury if you can take a tactical team with you."
"Good idea, I think I'll do that."
"Are you OK with going on Chloe's first mission with her now that you're seperate. I mean, it's got to be emotional for her."
"Even if I didn't want to, I have to. I'm still her S.O. even if we're no longer together. I want to be there to protect and direct her anyway, even if she doesn't want me to."
"You were together for 3 years, how could this effect you so badly now?"
"I don't know Cap but the way I dealt with the situation, didn't really help."
"Please, call me Steve."
"Natasha doesn't."
"I know, it's so annoying. Speaking of, how is she?"
"She's good, the doctors have said she's healing faster than expected and she'll probably be out of hospital within a month or two."
"Good, she hates being in hospital. Have you been to see her since the first time?"
"Yeah, every day. It helps me get some stuff off my chest you know?"
"Yeah, I know how you feel."
"You should go and see her. You know how bored she gets when she's stuck in hospital."
"I guess."
"C'mon Cap you and I both know how you feel about her and so does she so just go for it, ask her out."
"I don't know... What about you two, aren't you kind of a thing now?"
"Natasha and I? No, we're just friends."
"Friends?"
"OK, best friends, but still only friends. Even though we have feelings for each other we both decided when I started going out with Chloe that we would stay friends and the age gap it a bit big anyway. The fact that we like each other just makes us better friends."
"But you and Chloe aren't together anymore do wouldn't that decision be void."
"Any excuse to get out of it. You're about 100 years old and you still haven't had your first proper date."
"It's hard to find someone with shared life experience."
I looked at him meaningfully.
"Fine, I'll ask her out."
"Cool, you'll be great together, especially after what happened with the Winter Soldier, I mean Bucky."
"Yeah, when I first found out about him and hydra and everything she was there for me. She really helped me to keep my head in the game."
"Exactly my point. Anyway, I should probably get going. You know how much Fury hates sloppiness."
"OK, see you later."
"Bye."
I carried on my journey to tactical room three with ideas of perfect dates and young children floating around in my head.
