After about 7 and a half minutes, the pain stopped, so did the purple liquid running through the tube. The first thing I noticed was that my senses were very much sharper than before. I could see everything in the room clearly, even the small print on a pill bottle that was on the other side of the room. I could also hear conversations taking place at least outside the building, if not further.
I suddenly knew how I could escape.
"All done now," said Skilenski. "You will be returned to your cell to recover. In about 4 hours, I will perform phase 3 on you and you will become one of my mindless soldiers. It's a shame really, I always did like your attitude."
He left the room and called the soldiers in on the way out. I slowly walked over to the door to meet them half way. When one of them grabbed my arm to handcuff me again, I headbutted him, punched him in the face and kicked him in the chest which left him crumpled on the floor. The others took a second to recover from the shock of my sudden outburst and I used the time to grab the gun of the one standing in front of me and shoot him in the chest. Then, I used his body as a shield while I shot the others, including the one on the floor.
I knew they would be up in a minute and that the shots would have been heard all around, especially by the other supersoldiers. I grabbed another gun and ran down the corridor. I got to a corner. I slid across the wall and peeked my head around the corner to find that there were two soldiers patrolling the corridor. I took a deep breath, got my gun ready, spun round the corner and shot the soldiers. Three times each.
Alarms began to blare and Skilenski's voice was heard all around:
"Soldiers, a subject has escaped, I repeat, subject 434 had escaped. She's a tall, skinny, asian girl with very long, straight, black hair. She has disobeyed me. I need you to find her. Kill her. Now."
I ran as fast as I could, which was pretty fast with the serums in my system, down the next corridor. The door I had been taken through on the way in was in sight. I heard many soldiers coming towards me in all directions. I yanked the door open and leapt through slamming the door behind me. I leaned against it for a moment to catch my breath, but I realised in horror that there was a guard outside the door and he was now getting ready to fight me.
We ran at each other and at the last moment, when we were just about to collide, I slid thtough his legs, got up and continued to sprint towards the exit. He quickly recovered and started running after me. He was faster than me because he'd completed phase 3 so I knew he was going to catch up with me at some point. He leaped forward and brought his fist down hard on my left shoulder. I cried out in pain as I fell to the ground.
I started to get up but my now broken shoulder would not allow me to and I was in too much pain. He walked slowly towards me. I tried to scramble backwards but my shoulder couldn't handle it. The supersoldier grabbed me, lifted me above above his head and threw me at least 10ft across the room. I was too terrified to even scream. I hit the opposite wall with a sickening crunch and fell to the ground. The escrutiating pain that I felt was so much that I was surprised I hadn't even pass out yet. He started towards me again.
In that moment, I knew I was going to die. There was no way I could over power the supersoldier especially not now. Even with the serums in my system, I hadn't completed phase 3. I wasn't strong enough.
"Please," I begged him. "Don't kill me."
"I don't have a choice," he responded, advancing towards me, almost reluctantly. He slowed his advance. With each step I just wanted it to be over. He was about a foot away, just leaning down to grab me again when suddenly, a purple tailed arrow embedded itself in his chest. And another. And another. Chloe. He fell to the ground.
Despite the situation I was in I laughed in relief as he fell to the ground. Chloe swung down from the ceiling on a grappling hook arrow and ran to my side.
"Oh my God Anaiya. What did they do to you?" she cried.
"I hurt everywhere," I managed to get out. "But perfect timing." The pain was getting worse. Chloe picked me up bridal style causing me to cry out in agony.
"I have to get you out of here," she said, just before I passed out.
I woke up just as she walked into a quinjet.
"Get to base. Now!" I heard her shout. "She's hurt pretty bad."
And then I passed out again.
