And that's just what happened. It's been four months since I came back to school. And these four months has been the best four months I've had in a very long time.
Ross kept his promise. Him and the boys did protect me. Every time one person would say something bad to me in the halls or I got bullied one of them would be there. And for the girls that bullied me Kendall would be there.
Ross and I are together now. I love him. He just doesn't know it yet. Him, Xavier, Kendall, and Noah all have the same schedule as me. They got it changed the second day of school just so try could be there for me. It's amazing.
"Brooke come here." Noah says. We all are at our house celebrating 'The Quads' seventeenth birthday. But while the boys and Kendall are downstairs playing video games I'm upstairs debating what color I should frost the two cakes I've been baking for two hours.
"I'm busy Noah. Give me like two minutes!" I yell down at him.
"Okay." He says back.
Okay so back to the cakes. I turn my music up so it's blasting through the kitchen while I takeout the red, purple, blue, and white frosting. If I can't decide what color than I'm just going to make it multicolored. I'm going to make them look tie dye. So I start frosting. I dance along to my music while I'm doing it. After one cake is finished I move onto my next one. This one is going to have yellow and pink frosting along with the other four colors. On this cake I make little pink flowers along the sides of it and big purple flowers in the corners. The middle is going to be a mixture of the other colors. So to get that perfect I put the other colors into one bowl and go over to the mixer. After about two minutes of mixing I bring the bowl over to the cake and start icing it. White with red, yellow, and blue swirls in it. I think I did a good job on it. I decide to put big pink flowers in the corners of the other cake. After that is finished I cover each cake and put them in the oven. I just don't turn it on. And when I clean up my mess I check the time and see I'm twenty minutes late from telling Noah I'll be down in two minutes. Oops. So I take my apron off and run downstairs to the basement/game room.
"Sorry guys. What did you need?" I ask walking over to them.
"Where were you? You were twenty minutes late." Noah says pausing the game standing up from his seat.
"I was getting dressed." I lie. They don't know about the cakes.
"But you're still wearing the sweats from this morning." Riley points out. I look down.
"Hmm I guess I forgot why I was in my room. Oops." I say turning around.
"This isn't over missy. Now where were you? And why were you late?" Noah asks me again.
"Do you really want to know?" I ask and he nods. "Are you sure?" He nods again. "Positive?"
"Just tell me already." He says getting frustrated. I look at him for a moment.
"Nah. See you guys later. I have to go get ready." I said running upstairs. Once I get to my room I change into maroon dress that goes to my knees with red heels. I decide to straighten my hair since I've only done that once. And I go without makeup. After I'm ready I go downstairs to see everyone sitting in the living room watching tv. They don't hear me coming down do I sneak into the kitchen to do some final touches to something's. Streamers were all over the kitchen in all colors. I bought Kendall a bouquet of red and white roses along with a beautiful necklace. With a star in the middle and three diamonds on the sides. The star being her and the three diamonds being Xavier, Riley, and I. I bought Riley a watch that he's been wanting for the longest time but he could never get the money for it. I bought Xavier a new phone. They all cost about the same so we are good. And I bought me multiple shoes, clothes, jewelry, bags, excreta. But the one thing I didn't buy was makeup. That's because the boys taught me that I don't need makeup to feel pretty.
Setting their gifts on the kitchen table, along with a few tiny gifts for them and the boys, I walk over to the oven and pull out both cakes setting them on either side of the presents. I take a picture with my phone and send it to each of the people in the living room. Underneath the picture I asked. 'What do you think? I'm thinking about doing it for next year. I mean it is our eighteenth birthday so why not go all out?'
Kendall was the first to reply. 'Looks great. We should totally do that.'
Then Riley. 'I think the cakes look very delicious.'
Then Xavier. 'Does that phone come with it or is it just part of what those people bought?'
Then the other four came in at the same time. 'I so know what you're planning.' From all four of them. I just smile and reply to each one saying I'll be down shortly. I wait five minutes then walk into the living room.
"Hey guys." I say sitting down next to Ross.
"Hey." They all say. I smile to myself when I catch my sibling sneaking glances at me.
"What are you watching?" I ask them.
"The Heat." Xavier answers.
"Cool." I say getting up.
"Where are you going now?" They all ask me.
"Somewhere." I say walking over to the kitchen doors. I shut them before I went to go sit down. "If you must know follow me." I say opening the doors. I hear them all stand up and rush after me. I turn the lights off so they don't see what I have set up.
"Brooke where did you go?" I hear Riley ask.
"Turn the light on." I say. I'm standing by the table. The light flips on and Kendall is the first to see me. She starts screaming which makes everyone else scream. They all turn around and see the table. Xavier and Riley has their mouths hanging open while Kendall is still screaming and the boys just have knowing smiles on their faces. I might have added a little something to their part of the text message. I told them seventeenth instead of eighteenth and I also told them that it's in the kitchen right now and if they keep quiet then they will get presents too.
"When did you do this?" Riley asks me.
"I've been up since five o'clock this morning baking, cooking, and hiding presents." I say with a yawn. I honestly didn't sleep last night due to the fact that I was planning this whole day out.
"So that picture was taken in our very own kitchen?" Xavier asks. I hold up a pink cloth.
"I just hid the background to make it look like it was professionally taken." I say with a smile.
"You did this for us?" Kendall asks when she finally stopped screaming.
"You helped me get through my toughest years. You deserve it." I tell them turning around to the table. "Xavier come here." I say picking up his phone. I hand it to him and he gives me a big hug. "It's already set up. Same number and everything. I stole your old phone last night and transferred all of your contacts into it. Riley you're next. Here. I know how much you've been wanting this watch so I bought it for you for being there for me when I really needed it. Thanks." I say hugging him. "Kendall these roses are for you. In the vase is one fake rose. Just remember that that one rose is the one rose that represents my trust in you. It will never die. And this necklace is also yours. The star is you. These three diamonds are Xavier, Riley, and I we will always be together." I say hugging her. She's crying. "Now for the four of you. I couldn't forget my best friends. Ross I got you a gold necklace chain. You can add anything you want to it. John you got new shoes. Same for you Noah. Joshua I got you a new earring." I tell them handing each of them their gifts. They all hug me.
"Thanks." They all say.
"Now for the final surprise." I say walking outside. What's waiting outside is the family. My five cousins. My four uncles and four aunts. And my grandparents. Along with close family friends. And mom and dad.
When they walk outside everyone yells surprise and Kendall starts screaming again. Riley is on the ground holding his chest laughing. And Xavier well he's frozen in his spot.
This birthday is going to be great.
