"Ah, pooppooppooppooppooppoop--!"

Cry dashed through the halls while holding Frisk's hand tightly; they were currently running from a Madjick who wouldn't stop throwing spells at them.

"Heehee~abracadabra~!"

Cry shouted back at the monster, flailing his free arm in the air.

"Dude!  That is the most cliché spell in whole entire world!"

The brunet pressed the MERCY button when it was the humans' turn.

Frisk reached into the backpack that was still on Cry's back and pulled out a STICK.

Madjick halted and widened his eyes.

"Oh~dear~!  I have been attacking a fellow wizard!  My bad, my bad~!"

The short monster stopped throwing spells.

"Hee, hee~!  I'll let you two be on your way!  Sorry~!"

Madjick cackled as he flew off to some other part of the CORE.

Cry and Frisk sighed in relief; the two glanced at each other.

"That could've ended a lot worse."

*Agreed.*

They met Knightknight and a few other monsters.

Alphys helped--or tried to--direct them through the maze of metal and wires.

Sometimes they would end up going in circles and run into other monsters;  all were SPAREed and the humans continued on their merry way.

Eventually, Cry and Frisk stopped at a large metal door.

The brunet could sense a certain robot beyond them; he glanced over at Frisk and quirked a small smile.

"Alright, we're about to battle with Mettaton."

Frisk scrunched her nose up; Cry laughed.

"Don't like him very much...?"

Frisk quickly shook her head, signing frantically.

*Not at all!  It's just....I remembered him...in a dress...*

Cry guffawed.

"Haha!  Okay, okay.  We better get going..."

The brunet stepped towards the door, but he was held back by Frisk; Cry raised an eyebrow at her.

"Frisk?"

She opened her eyes and stared at Cry worriedly.

*...Don't...push yourself too hard.*

She looked down at the ground; her hand gripping Cry's shook slightly.

*I thought I was going to lose you forever at Papyrus' fight.*

Cry softened his gaze before grinning brightly at Frisk.

"Don't worry!  We're gonna get through this, and I'll be fine!  So just keep being filled with DETERMINATION."

Frisk slowly nodded and smiled, closing her eyes.

They stepped through the doors as they automatically opened.

They wandered in darkness for a few minutes before a spotlight shown down on a certain rectangle in the room.
