On September 11, 2001, 2977 people were killed in the twin towers, the pentagon, and flight 93, not including the 19 hijackers. 15000 people were saved.

I was three.

That's really all I remember about that day.

What has stuck with me though is the fact that they were trying to bring us down and tear us apart.

That didn't happen.

Yes, it was a terrible blow and a terrible thing that happened. But in my opinion that's not what we should focus on.

We should focus on the fact that that horrible event brought us together when they were trying to tear us apart. That day itself people were helping other people they didn't know or didn't like to get as far away from the destruction or to grieve with.

One year later, on the anniversary, over 33,000 people volunteered to help clean because they was still debris all over the place.

So what does that say about Americans?
