<>Chapter 2<>

As Connor dragged me to the big house thing, everyone I passed looked at me in disbelief. Shouldn't I be looking at them in disbelief? Everybody I saw had some type of Greek armor or weapon on them. Others looked like they had green and blue skin with the same color looking eyes. I read about some Greek mythology in school, but this was just ridiculous.

Soon enough, we arrived at the front door of the 'headquarters.' Connor opened the door to the big house and what I saw was pretty surprising. To be honest, not as much as the lizard lady. Actually, scratch that. Not much surprised me at this point.

"Chiron!" Connor shouted at the centaur standing behind a desk covered with papers and a lamp. Yeah, that's right. Centaur. Honestly, how had I not passed out yet? He turned and looked at Connor, then me, and then our entangled hands. Connor blushed and quickly pulled away. I quickly pulled my hand to my chest and cradled it. Awkward..

The centaur studied me and bobbed his head as if confirming something. "That sign is the one and only. Apollo's symbol is a sun, but Artemis' is an arrow. For quite obvious reasons, as you can imagine." Yeah, I can imagine pretty much anything now. "Ah, but sure enough, there it is," Chiron exclaimed, shaking his head.

"Didn't Artemis, like, swear on River Styx that she'd never... you know," Connor asked as his face went beet red and he looked like he was trying not to laugh. Typical, immature white boy. I rolled my eyes, and then focused back on the serious situation at hand.

"Yes, this is rare. This hasn't happened in what? At least three thousand years," Chiron said, pinching the bridge of his nose. I couldn't take it anymore.

"Okay, this is just way too bizarre. I'm not doing this anymore. I know my imagination is odd, but this is totally out of control. Nice to meet you, my dream's strange people, but I'm leaving now," I said. I closed my eyes tightly, pinched myself and waited.

I didn't feel any change, and when I opened one eye, I was still in the office with a centaur in front of me.

Connor, still standing beside me, was silent for a moment and stared at me with wide eyes. He doubled over, clutching his stomach as he broke out in laughter. My cheeks heated slightly and I opened both eyes fully, but I was stuck with one question.

Why didn't I wake up?

I incredulously looked back to the centaur and he too, wore an amused look. After Connor's laughing fit was over, the seriousness filled the room again.

"Sorry miss, but you are in no dream. This is about as real as it gets." The centaur chuckled. No. No, no, no, no. This isn't real. Nope. I still have my father (even if he's horrible) to go back to. And my house, my room. All my belongings. Even my stuffed bear, Mr. Teady. If this just so happened to be real, does that mean I'd never be able to go back to that again?

"Should I take her to the Hermes cabin or Apollo or..." Connor interrupted my worrying thoughts.

Chiron shifts from foot, er, hoof to hoof while inspecting me.

"Let me talk to her for a few minutes first. I'm going to explain what's been happening, where she is, what she's doing here and all that," Chiron told Connor. He simply nodded before walking out to who knows where.

"See you, Freckles." I frowned at the new nickname and faced the seemingly wise centaur.

"Have you and Connor known each other for a while?" Chiron asked while going through some cabinets behind him.

"No, of course not. We met about 15 minutes ago," I said, hanging onto my still injured shoulder. So much for the twins helping me with that. He hummed as he continued to search through the cabinets. His face lit up as his hand landed on a green vial.
