I woke up on the couch today. Which was odd, but then I remembered that I stayed up all night watching Netflix.

I saw my mum doing her work on the table and before I could say anything she asked me to go and get ready. I asked her where are we going and she replied "We're going to sign you up for school dear"

I nodded and went upstairs to get ready. When I went back down, she gave me a sandwich and asked me to eat it on our way there.

"Why are we rushing mum?" I asked. "I've got some work later after we're done with this and I really gotta finish it by today" she answered.

When we got there, there were no students around. They must be in class I thought. We headed to the school office and signed me up for 10th grade. I was kind of excited to meet some new people cause I dont really have much friends here in America.

It all got sorted out pretty smoothly and we were done in an hour. They showed me and my mum around the school and I must say it was really really big.

Anyways, when we were done with exploring the school, the bell rang for what i assumed to be recess time. We headed back home because it was getting really crowded in the school.

I should be starting to go there by tomorrow if everything goes to plan. So I had like a day to get ready for it.

As my mum and I was walking to our car. I slammed into a random person who was clearly rushing to get somewhere. It was his fault for not looking ahead, so I said "Hey watch where your going mate".

"Oh I'm so sorry. I've never seen you here before. Are you the new kid?"he asks. "Umm yeah, just moved from Australia". I answered. "Nice to meet you, my name is Brennan. You are?"

"Brennan?" I said confusingly. "Yeah man, is there any problem?"he said. "Uh no, sorry. I'm Calum" I said. "Well nice to meet you Calum. I guess I'll see you around then" he said as he rushed back to where he wanted to go.

So that was the infamous Brennan huh, I chuckled to myself. I had mixed emotions because he looked like a nice guy but I knew better. He's in love with my crush that's for sure. But I don't really know the full story, I didn't know if Annie actually likes him back.

I was glad to have finally met this Brennan guy but I just.. I don't know what to feel.

We went back home and so I went in my room and started to play the acoustic guitar on the balcony.

I got a text from Annie, asking me to hang out with her outside because she wanted to 'talk'. I agreed and went outside.

She looked pretty sad, so I asked her "Whats wrong princess?". "Well, I've been thinking Cal, I don't think we should continue doing this"she said. "Huh, what are you trying to say?"I ask. "I don't think we should be more than friends" she answered. "What? Why? Is it Brennan? I swear if I see him again, I'm gonna punch him so hard that he..." she cuts me off

"No, don't do that. Youre only making it worse. Its not him, it's me" she said. "Tell me all about it Annie, I'll always be here for you" I said.

"Its not that easy to explain Calum. I wish it was that easy"she said while nearly tearing up. "Come here" I offered her a hug. It was the warmest hug I've ever had. It was nice.

"So what are we?" I asked her. "Just friends" she answered. "After all we've been through?" I pathetically asked. "I'm sorry Cal" she answered.

She got out of my arms and went back home. Leaving me alone there. Staring at the sight of a sunset.

I was absolutely heartbroken. I knew that all good things must come to an end. But no, I'm not gonna give her up that easy. Whatever the problem is, I'm gonna find it and solve it.

She is my soul mate after all.
