"What are you doing here?!" I scolded. "What are you doing here?!" Hunter said. "You didn't answer my question!" I said to him. He looked at me and I looked at him. Suddenly these old feelings returned and I was reminded of the pain I faced the first time I entered my woods. I knew what was coming next. He suddenly turned from furious to comforting. "What's is this place?" He whispered and opened his arms. I examined him cautiously before breaking and running into his arms. I cried against his strong build. He stroked my hair and whispered repetitively, "Its ok. I'm here now. Don't worry. I'm all yours."

Finally, when I stopped crying, Hunter tried again. "Brynn..." he asked. "what are you doing here?" he said very calming.
"I-I when-when m-my mom left-left me, I-I came here and-and when I came h-here, I hit this tree." I sniffed and motioned towards my 'hitting tree'. "My mom left me because she thought that there was nothing left here for her. She-she wasn't happy here. She told me that when she left she would come back. But...she...didn't...She didn't... come... back! SHE LIED TO ME! SHE MADE A PROMISE! SHE JUST LEFT ME!" I ran towards my tree but Hunter knew all about the tree and held me back. "HUNTER SHE LIED TO ME! SHE LIED TO ME! SHE PROMISED TO COME BACK! SHE NEVER DID! SHE WONT EVER! HUNTER!" I fell to my knees in a sobbing heap and cried, "She lied! My own mother lied to a 12 year-old!" She comes to visit but she never comes back. I don't want her to anyway. Hunter nodded understandingly. I cooled off eventually.
"Then when-when I get r-really sad, I come and hit this tree...or k-kick." I said shamefully. I kicked the dirt lightly without wanting to hurt my legs. Hunter sighed and motioned towards my dog and horse. "Oh! That's kitten and that's Mouse."
"Oh" Hunter said. "I-I had no idea! You know that I would have helped you?!"
I just looked at the ground. I knew. "Why are you here Hunter?" I asked sternly. I was not happy about him being here. I knew it. He knew it.
"I was walking around and then-"
"Don't you dare lie to me!" I warned him. "After all I have been through! After I just poured my heart and soul out into you! Don't! Either tell me the truth, or don't expect to see me at home tonight!" I yelled at Hunter. Hunter didn't say anything.
I turned around and walked away. Mouse and Kitten followed. I found a big rock and hoisted Kitten onto Mouse. Then, I stepped on the rock and pulled myself onto Mouse.
Hunter just stood there completely shocked as I rode away.Hunter's pov
I don't expect to see Brynn at home tonight, I guess. Why didn't I just tell her the truth. Why couldn't she had just stayed a second longer while I figured out what to tell her and how. I ate my dinner in complete silence for the rest of the night. Finally, I couldn't take it anymore! I had to find Brynn. And I knew just where to find her...I just don't know if she'll let me find her.

I walked along the trees and entered the woods. There, I followed the hoof prints of Mouse. They seemed to go on for ever! Like I was just going in circles! Finally, I noticed that the hoof prints stopped. I noticed that I haven't been following hoof prints for at least 10 minutes. "Damn it!!" I yelled at the quiet forest. I was lost and it was already getting dark. Just then, I heard something. I flipped around to find Brynn. She wasn't on Mouse though. She was screaming at the air.
"I WAS NEVER GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU, WAS I?! I COULD HAVE SAVED YOU!! I DIDNT SAVE YOU! I DIDNT SAVE YOU!" she cried over and over again. She began to pound the ground because her hands were almost healed all the way. "I WAS NEVER GOOD ENOUGH!!"
I took off sprinting towards her. she was on her knees and pounding the ground. I grabbed her hands when they were over her head and held them behind her back. "Brynn?! Stop it!!" I yelled at her. "What's wrong?!" I asked.
"M-My aunt! She-She came back and-and I could have saved her in-in the hospi-hospital! I could have! I could have! But I didn't! And-and she came here and t-told me that I COULD HAVE SAVED HER!" Brynn tried to jerk away from me but I held my tight grip. "Brynn? Brynn?! Look at me!" I said pulling her face towards mine. "You couldn't have done anything! We both know that! You are have a hallucination! She is not here!" Brynn looked around her. "Let's go home and I will tell you everything there is to know about me. Okay?""Okay"
