Brynn woke me up 3 times last night by whimpering or screaming or kicking. I finally got up at 5:20 to find that Brynn was gone. "Brynn?" I fumbled through the covers. "Brynn?" I called walking down the hall. There she was, hands on her head. "Brynn?" She looked up at me. Her eyes were red and puffy with dark circles under them.
"Can I show you something?" She said in a horse voice. "Yeah!" I said. She slipped on a jacked and some shoes then brought me outside. She climbed up a tree and then helped me up. She rested her head on my chest and yawned. "What was it you wanted me to see?" I asked her. " That" she said pointing to the sunrise. It was absolutely beautiful. The sky turned blue, pink, purple, and orange. Soft clouds drifted through the sky. I had never really taken the time to see the full sun rise. A few black birds flew overhead creating the most beautiful silhouette I had ever seen. Small animals scurried below us and birds sang their beautiful songs. "That's the path to heaven." She pointed to a thin bunch of pink clouds that looked like a short path. "It's so close." She whispered and looked at her hands and then the ground. I suddenly got very, very nervous. I gently wrapped my arms around her. "I don't want to go though." She said. "I'd rather stay with you...as long as I can...until you leave me too..."
"Brynn?! you know I would never leave you, right?!" I said. She sighed. "That's what my aunt used to tell me all the time." She leaned against my chest and we watched the sun rise until it was high in the sky.***********
I woke up yet again to no sight of Brynn. I had absolutely no idea as to where she could have gone! I checked her aunts house and then all around mine. I checked the barn where Brynn still takes care of her animals. I even checked for a motionless body below the tree we sat in yesterday "Brynn?!" I called. "Brynn?!" I called again...no answer. "Brynn!" I yelled.
Then, I saw her.
She came limping out of the forest with blood on her leg. "Brynn?!" I yelled. She looked at me with a sorry look and then collapsed onto the dirt. I went running towards her...not knowing what to think.
Brynn's pov
I had woken myself early like I always do and couldn't be alone. I went over to my aunts house and then I fed the animals and ran to my woods to see my horse and dog. I rode around on Mouse a little and played with Kitten. Then I saw someone...it was my aunt. I knew it couldn't be true, but I ran to her anyway with tears in my eyes. "Aunt Lorie!" I ran into her arms. I looked back, confused. I had just run right through Aunt Lorie!
"Did you really think I was back?! You have always been quite foolish!" she said to me. "Au-Aunt Lorie? Wh-What's wrong?! I miss you!" I said.
"Your not fit to live in my house you foolish bitch! You'll never be as good as me! Your just like your mother!"
I felt my stomach drop and my legs gave out beneath me with those words. I fell to the ground. "I-I am not anything like my mother...r-right?!" I asked hopefully.
"Are you kidding me?! I hate you! You do not deserve me, or the house, or to live! You had your chances and you gave up on me! You COULD have saved me...but, if you did I would kill my self living with you! You...didn't...save...me. And you'll have to live with that forever!" she scolded me. I looked down at the ground. "Your not stable! You don't deserve anyone because you will just hurt them!" she said. She was right. "I-I really am just a foolish bitch!" I said quietly. "I am a foolish bitch!" I yelled slamming the ground! "I was never good enough for you or mom or dad! And...I...didn't...save you." I whispered. Mouse tried to stop me but I wouldn't. "I DIDNT SAVE YOU! I DIDNT SAVE YOU! I LET YOU DIE!" Now that I had hurt my hands and they were still healing, I went straight to my leg. I kick the tree as hard as I could. After a while, I felt my leg snap and was engulfed in an enormous amount of pain. I cried out and fell to the ground. "Shit!" I screamed. I look up to where my aunt had stood...she was gone.
'I need to go!' I thought to myself and carefully edged myself onto Mouse. He carried me back to the edge of my woods and then I limped out.
"Ahhhhhhh!!" I screamed, high pitched. I couldn't take the pain! It was too much! As I crossed the river, I saw Hunter and collapsed onto the ground in pain. I felt like I was dead!
