Rain, rain, don't go away.
I'm feeling lonely and I need a friend today.
Tell the sun not to cry.
I'm just simply waiting for the night to fly
Over my head and shine
Its horror on me.
Rain, rain, let's go and play
A game about our pessimistic ways.
Tell the sun not to come.
There's no room for the light to sit and hum
The rhythm of this knife
Across our throats.
Rain, won't you stay today.
The lightning and the thunder have come to say,
"Tell the sun, this is our time
To light up the sky in a new and scary way."
But it's scaring me,
And it's tearing me apart.
They're chasing me,
And they're burning me to ashes
In the shape of my face,
In the tune of my heart,
My heartbeat is racing to the sound of the rain.
Rain, you can go away.
