"Hey! You must be Lindsey, I'm Peter," he said shaking my hand not to hard or to softly, but just enough so that I could tell that his hands were firm, but he respected me.
"It's nice to finally meet you Peter!"
Everyone else was quiet.
"Well, this is the crew, Hudson, Reece and Jake."
They all nodded or waved, they seemed shy, but they were clearly trying to hide it playing it cool.
"Well as you know I'm Lindsay, and this is Ella, Jade, and Gracie."
Ella waved, fingers at a time, and smiled her cute little seductive smile that she always did when there was a boy to impress.
Everyone else smiled shyly, which was almost a little embarrassing because in the letters I made us sound like fun people, and now, we seem quiet.
This whole situation was awkward.
"So... Should we sit by the creek?"
"Yeah let's go."
We all walked over there silently, and awkwardly, sitting down in a half Circe of rocks.
"So Ella, what do you do other than just school?" Peter asked.
"Well, I try to play soccer, but I'm no good," she said smirking and brushing her wavy blonde hair behind her ear. She was lying. She's the strongest soccer player we have, if she's not the captain she's first picked, faking delicacy was her way of flirting, and it was working.
"No I bet your great, you seem pretty athletic," Peter said throwing a smirk right back at her. Yup. It was working. Good job Ella, there you go again pulling boys without effort. I wish I could do that.
Gracie blurted out, "hey we should skip rocks!"
"Yeah!" Everyone agreed and we all got up in search for flat rocks.
I kind of split apart from the all of a sudden chatty group of people and looked in different directions.
Hudson followed behind me.
"Well they became friends quickly," Hudson said.
"Oh. Haha, yeah."
"Here's a good one," he handed me a rock and I tossed it to the water.
"Three skips! You're good at this."
"Nah, I've only done this a couple times when I was little."
I bent over trying to find one for him, and I tripped, nearly falling in the creek. But I didn't, because Hudson caught me.
It was dramatic looking like in movies, he held me by my waist, I wasn't balancing on anything.
"You okay?" He said.
I hesitated before speaking.
"Yeah."
"Well I'm sure glad because there was a spider on that rock you almost picked up. I don't know about you but I have a deathly fear of spiders."
"Haha! Not trying to insult you or anything but... That's embarrassing."
He pulled me back to safety and my mind came back to where it should be.
"Thank you so much, I would've been soaked! And perhaps attacked by a spider."
"Haha! My pleasure."
His pleasure? Well I sure hope so because DAMN.
Hudson and I spent probably an hour just sitting and talking, and I didn't realize it until I woke up on Hudson's shoulder. I flinched because I didn't know what had happened.
"Woa, you alright?"
"I'm so sorry did I fall asleep?"
"Yeah but I don't mind at all! It's super late and you need sleep, I think everyone should head back about now."
"Yeah good idea."
Well Lindsay, I don't know about you but I sure had fun. Get some sleep girly."
He hugged me to wrap things up, and he was a lot taller so my head was right on his chest. It was great while it lasted. And I say that because it didn't last long after Ella interrupted with a disgusting little, "oooh that escalated quickly."
Hudson pulled away trying not to embarrass me. He smiled softly as our groups of friends walked our separate directions.
We were completely silent on the way back until we sat on our beds.
"Lindsay, Hudson so likes you," Ella said.
"You think so?"
"Well duh!"
Gracie let out a, "Ella, Peter likes you."
"Really??" Ella said.
That was so fake, she just wanted to hear Gracie say it again. But she didn't. Haha, go Gracie.
"See Lindsay, when you were with Hudson, Reece was being a man hoe and being flirty with all of us," Jade said.
"Oh I see," I said.
"Jake really didn't talk much. He seems shy. Unlike Reece haha!" Gracie said.
This conversation led to Ella going on and on about how her and Reece did this and that. She's trying to one-up everyone else here. So rude.
Gracie of course nodded her head and listened, Jade was probably asleep, but all I could think about was the night I had with Hudson, and if it was too good to be true.
