9. Talking behind my back?

The silence continued on even in our group chat. Nothing. At lunch. Nothing. In the hallways. Nothing. Even that night getting ready and walking a mile across campus to see the guys. We did it all in silence.

"Hey," Peter said.

Ella sadly half smiled at him, "hey."

Alright she may be pretty sad, but she's putting on a show for Peter. I know she likes him.

"Ella do you wanna talk for a bit?"

"Sure!"

They both walked off to some spot by the creek where they sat down and talked.

Ugh. I know where that's going.

"So. Any updates on what's happened?"

"Nope, but we're getting security guards all over the school, so they'll know who goes in and out 24/7 starting Friday," Hudson said.

"Wait, at the school? Did this happen at the school?"

"Yeah I guess. We just woke up this morning and he was gone. How's everyone at St. Augustine's doing?"

"They know someone went missing but we're the only ones that are actually concerned."

"Yeah we're all pretty upset. Peter seems to be hiding his emotions. Like when people ask him how he's doing he's like oh yeah I'm fine, but when we see him outside of class in our room he seems really upset."

"Really? He seems to be handling it pretty well."

"Oh no, he's probably the most upset out of all of us."

"He seems to be having quite a good time with Ella over there." I said rolling my eyes.

We all look over our shoulders to see Ella balling her eyes out in peters arms. Literal barf. She's upset but not booger balling upset.

"She's just using this whole Reece thing as an excuse to be all gross with Peter."

"Lindsay? You really think so?"

"I know so."

I can't believe I said that out loud. That there is a prime example of a gossip fart I just couldn't hold in.

Hudson looked at them again, "they're coming back, everyone stop looking!"

We all looked at the ground as Ella and Peter approached.

"Hey guys," Ella said wiping her tears.

"Hey."

"I'm really tired and I think we should head back."

"You sure? We haven't been here that long."

"I'm tired!"

"Okay okay we can go back. We'll see y'all soon."

"Y'all? This is California! Haha! Where are you from?"

"Arkansas. But I'm here now. Hudson you should call me."

"Of course."

"See ya!"

We walked our separate directions. Once we walked in our room, Ella's phone rang. She rand to it, hopped on her bed and let out a big happy, "hey Peter!"

Disgusting.

Ella locked herself in bathroom number one and talked to Peter.

At first it was cheerful but then I heard, "WHAT?"

I couldn't help but get closer to listen.

"Of course I like you! I'm not using all this as an excuse! Who said that?"

Oh crap.

"ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! UGH I'M GONNA DROWN HER IN A TOILET BOWL"

This isn't good.

"Peter, I really like you, don't listen to what other people say. Just know that it's all for the right reasons."

I better go hide.

I sat on my bed and pretended to be on my phone, but there was no way of hiding from an angry Ella raging out of that bathroom.

Jade looked up, "Ella why so upset? Did you clog the toilet?"

"Lindsay I can't believe you would say something like that. I've been nothing but nice to you."

I didn't even argue. I didn't say anything at all, because in my eyes, someone a little spoiled needs to get something they don't want.

Ella is actually the most spoiled girl in St. Augustine's history. I say that because this is a high end school in California, and everyone's families are rich. Ella's being the richest. She has a Ferrari in the school parking garage and she drives us around in it on weekends.

Ella always has the newest phone, the latest fad, she gets everything a girl could want. Even whatever guy she wants. And in this case she wasn't going to let someone like me who drives a Subaru, that I worked for, to get in the way if that.
