"So what's that paper say?"
"They're numbers."
"What numbers?"
"Fetty Wap?"
"What?"
"Look," Hudson said handing me the tiny paper.
"Of course." The numbers were 1738.
"I don't understand how these numbers are relevant, but we have the key."
"Well what's the key for?"
"The key unlocks Reece from wherever he is."
"So we don't know?"
"No."
I sighed, "darn."
"Did that video ring any bells?"
"I wasn't very focused because I watched it in class right before you called, I have it on my phone we can watch it again."
I pulled up the video and it played again.
It was a lot more eerie watching it in a quiet parking garage.
My brain was doing that scary spin-y thing again.
"Wait a minute."
"What."
"Piles of cloths? Desks? People walking? Oh my god."
"Lindsey what?"
"Come with me. This time you're getting a tour of my school."
We sprinted through the main hall and I ask a cleaning lady if our school had a basement.
"Yes the door behind the front desk is the basement door, but the key has been lost for 30 years, nobody's been down there."
"Ma'am, we have the key please call the police."
Hudson and I ran back to the front desk and I frantically unlocked the basement door.
The place was covered in spider webs and looked like a long hall way with about 20 doors on each side.
"Lindsay? You really think he's down here?"
"He's gotta be down here. There was a rumor that a really long time ago, our school had a lower level used for detention students, but it got locked off and used for storage after a teacher was attacked. That's just a rumor but I didn't know the basement was real."
"Does that mean our school has one too?"
"Probably."
"Then he could be in that one too couldn't he?"
"Sure, but y'alls is probably well kept for storage. Ours is clearly abandoned."
"Haha 'y'all'"
"Stop," I nudged him.
This place was super creepy and we heard the police behind us yelling, "what are you doing down there?"
"I think the kidnapped student is down here."
The police came down the stairs with their flashlights and followed us down to the end of the hallway.
"We can handle this, you need to get where you need to be."
"Just let us stay a minute."
"No I insist."
I ignored him.
There was a combination lock on the door that required a four digit number.
"Fetty Wap?"
"Probably."
I put in the combination and the lock popped open.
I can't believe it, they predicted Fetty Wap 30 years ago. Beautiful.
I pushed the door, "Reece?"
He didn't respond but he was there alright, on the floor and unconscious.
An ambulance came and took him to wherever ambulances take unconscious people.
Hudson headed back to school, and the police came to be and said, "good work kid."
That's defiantly something that'll stick.
"Good work kid." I don't think I've ever felt more accomplished in my life.
At the same time, I was worried for Reece, but I brushed it off and headed back to the room to sleep.
I opened the door and everyone was already in bed, I made sure to be quiet.
"Where were you?" Gracie asked.
"Out with Hudson. We found Reece and he's at the hospital probably."
Ella put her head up, "you found him!? Where was he? Is he okay?"
"He was in the basement. The police are down there right now investigating."
"We have a basement?"
"Our school?"
"The police are here?"
The questions were overwhelming.
"Yeah I don't know. I'm going to bed."
Today I received videos from kidnapped Reece, I snuck out, Hudson drove me around some place in California, I went inside of St. Paul's, I found the key, and I found Reece, It's been probably the craziest day of my life.
