That Girl Over There

Chapter 15. Trust.

[Jack]

After the awesome day Rapunzel and I had, I dropped her home before returning to my house to make sure Emma and...Hiro...weren't up to any funny business.

Luckily for him, he had left way before I arrived home. I served up some spaghetti for Emma's then I bounded up the stairs to my room.

It was three in the morning when the email caused my Mac Book to ping.

"What the f*ck?" I hissed as the light flooded my sleepy eyes. Hastily, I rolled out of bed before stumbling over to my laptop to examine the email.

"Five am, the harbor." Quietly, I read aloud, trying to process the minimal amount of information. I checked the email but it was unfamiliar. Hans must behind this and you cannot ignore Hans. There were about four hours left until I had to meet Hans. I could catch an hour and a half of sleep or actually arrive on time at the harbor. Safe to say I chose the latter option.

Mist covered the waves below the rickety harbor and the fog horn was loud and clear. Cautiously, I stole a glimpse at my watch, It had just turned Five.

"Good morning, Jack." Hans whispered coolly as he emerged from the fog.

"Hans." I stated. For another couple of seconds he continued to walk closer until we were about a meter apart.

All of a sudden, Flynn emerged from behind Hans, the mist clearing as he neared. But what I couldn't see until he was right next to Hans was the person he was carrying in his arms. "Why the f*ck have you got my girlfriend..." I growled through gritted teeth. Hans chuckled darkly.

"There's business to attend to and precious Rapunzel here, was not cooperating." He glared as he gestured to Rapunzel whom was unconscious in Flynn's grip. I was livid, my blood boiled and if I didn't mind going to prison I would have killed both of them by now.

"What business of yours would my girlfriend need to attend to?" I seethed, my fists were clenched as a plan was trying to form in my head.

"Well, you see I want to shock our mother and father, they cannot keep secrets forever." Hans explained, he was now circling Flynn and Rapunzel like a hawk. Flynn stared at me sympathetically, guilt glimmered in his eyes. "But now I've decided I truly want to be an only child." Hans sighed.

"What are you even talking about, you bastard?!" I boomed. Rapidly, Has snapped his fingers and Flynn lunged to the side, the edge of the harbor. Rapunzel was dangling helplessly just over the edge, meters above the icy water below. "NOO!" I screamed. My feet had never moved quicker. Not a second after Flynn had released his grip on my girlfriend, sending her plummeting towards the sea, I jumped after her, my body hurtling through the air. With outstretched arms, I tried my best to grab hold of Rapunzel before our impact on the waves, but it was too late.

My whole body was numb, the waves pushed me under, eyes blurred and my fingers too cold to operate. I couldn't see Rapunzel for the life of me. Frantically, my arms slapped against the water to keep me afloat and I cried out for Rapunzel.

"JACK!" She screamed. The impact must have woken her. Rapidly, I whipped my head around looking for her. She was clutching onto the steel beams of the harbor. "JAACK!" She cried out again. As fast as I could, I began to swim towards her. Within a minute I was up against the steel beams beside her.

The numbing waves lashed against our bodies, Rapunzel's teeth chattered, I didn't blame her, she was only wearing a thin jumper. "J-J-Jack..." Rapunzel stuttered.

"I'm here." I mumbled. Carefully, I edged closer to Punzel's quivering frame and placed an arm around her. Now what? "We need to get out of here as fast as possible Punz OK?" I managed. She nodded quickly. "Climb!" I instructed.

Cautiously, I lifted a foot and connected with a cross beam above the previous one. Rapunzel followed my actions and soon enough we were half way up the side of the steel beams.

"I-I can't go any further!" Rapunzel cried over the sound of the lashing waves.

"You can! You have too! Trust me Rapunzel!" I boomed. For a moment her eyelids fused shut but then it seemed as if courage surged through her and in no time she scuttled up the remaining beams, pulling herself up onto the wooden deck. Shortly, I followed before collapsing onto the wood, freezing. Hans was no where to be seen.

Jack must have carried me back to his car because when I woke up I was engulfed in a fuzzy blanket on the backseat but I was still shivering from the icy ocean. Groaning, I sat up and shuffled forward slightly. Jack was asleep in the passenger seat and Hiccup was driving. 

"You OK Punz?" Hiccup questioned, his eyes fixated on the road. 

"I think so." I muttered. "How is Jack?" I asked whilst trying to peer at his face. 

"He's alright from what I can see apart from a cut on his cheek that's it." Hiccup sighed. I nodded in acknowledgement before sitting back into my seat. Outside, daylight was beginning to peak through the clouds but I didn't recognize where we were at all.

Soooo I started reading Eleanor and Park today...I'm only on chapter five and it's already amazing.
