That Girl Over There

Chapter 17. Confess to Jack.

[Rapunzel]

Jack and Hiccup had now made their way into the pub. Hiccup grabbed Merida by the waist and squeezed her in a hug. 

"Did you just perform to a pub full of rowdy drunks?" Jack whispered into my ear from behind. 

"Yes I did. It was great!" I grinned as I turned to face him. A smirk spread over Jack's face as I snaked my arms around his neck. For a moment, I gazed into his icy blue eyes and the smiled faded from my face. "I need to talk to you." I sighed nervously. Jack backed away, fear was now sparking in his eyes.

"Why?" He muttered. 

"I need to tell you something." I whispered, a lump had formed in the back of my throat. 

"You're not pregnant, are you?!" He gasped. 

"Jack, why would you even question that?!" I giggled. "Lets go already!" I grabbed his arm and dragged him out of the front entrance of The Poison Apple. 

We didn't really talk until we had found somewhere private which just happened to be the docks. 

"What's going on Punzel, you're scaring me..." Jack queried once we had sat down on a bench. 

"There are several things I have to say, please don't interrupt me until I'm done, I just want it all off of my chest." I breathed shakily. He nodded understandingly. "Yes, the other night I did meet my birth parents, but it was only brief. After you had dropped me home, Hans barged into my house, knocking my mom out and kidnapping me. He took me to his house saying that he had something to prove. When I met them, Leonard and Eliza Corona, I could tell straight away they knew who I was but when they spoke they completely dismissed me. That's when Hans knocked me unconscious and when I woke up I was in the sea. The second thing I have to say is, the first day you went back to Hans...Flynn t-tried to..." 

"Don't f*cking say it Rapunzel, I'm going to kill the f*cker..."Jack hissed. 

"He didn't though! It was as if something snapped inside of him and he stopped!" I exclaimed. Jack's eyes widened. "I know." I muttered. Jack said no more, he just pulled me into his side and kissed the top of my head. "I love you, Jack." I whispered into his hoodie. Instead of replying he just kissed me deeply.

Punzel and I stayed in that embrace well over an hour, just watching the ships sail in and out of the docks. It was peaceful, something we hadn't experienced in the past month. 

"We should head back soon, Hiccup and Merida will be wondering where we are." Rapunzel finally uttered. Reluctantly, I nodded in response before hopping up and helping up Rapunzel. Together we strolled hand in hand back to The Poison Apple. 

Merida and Hiccup had pushed the two single beds together and were now watching TV together when Punzie and I had arrived back. 

"Oh good! You're back!" Hiccup chuckled. Punzie stalked over to our bed and plopped herself down with a huff. 

"Everything alright?" Merida said with concern. 

"Tomorrow we are going back." I announced, it was the right thing to do, we had to stop Hans before this whole thing got even more out of hand. "Rapunzel's mom was knocked out and who knows if Hans went back for her." I growled. 

"We can't do anything though Jack." Hiccup sighed. "Well we could but it would land us with a life sentence in prison." Hiccup chuckled sarcastically. 

"I'll kill the bastard, then it will all be over!" Merida growled. Hiccup stared at her, horrified by her comment. 

"No Merida. I need to handle this." I voiced. No one argued against my decision although they narrowed their eyes at me. 

Later on, I slipped under the covers of Punzie and I's bed where she was already asleep. 

"Goodnight babe." I whispered softly. I was about to peck her cheek when her emerald eyes flicked open. "I thought you were asleep?" 

"Are you really going to try and take Hans down yourself?" She whispered. 

"I have to Punz, he's put everyone in danger." I seethed through gritted teeth. The bed creaked as she shifted. 

"I don't want you to get hurt." She croaked. 

"I'm not going to." Quietly, I chuckled. Rapunzel pressed her lips to mine, curling her legs around mine. 

"I love you, Jack." She breathed once she'd pulled away. We fell asleep, tangled with one another.

Leaving the odd town of Far Far Away was such a relief. Because Merida had driven her car here, we decided to go back in it and Jack drove his with Hiccup. 

"Yer boyfriend is such a f*cking idiot." She grumbled, her hand gripped the steering wheel tighter. "We should have just called the cops the day Jack went back." 

"And then let Jack get in trouble as well?" I spoke up. 

"No...that wasn't what I was saying." Merida huffed. 

"That's what you were implying." I bit back. 

"Don't get pissy with me Rapunzel." Merida snapped. "You've only been with the douche a few months. I've been around yer whole damn life. Jack brought the trouble to us. Hans only noticed yer because of Jack!" She raised her voice in anger. Merida had a good point. 

"You're right..." I finally sighed. 

"That's why, when we get back to Burgess, we're heading straight to the police department." Merida sighed.  That was the end of that discussion. I stared out the windscreen at the highway stretch ahead, Merida seemed to be the only one with her head screwed on decently.
