Chapter 1: Meeting The Guardian

Aurora's Pov

I wake up to the beating of rain on my window and when I look at my clock on my nightstand it's says 3:45am. I groan and roll onto my other side just to feel a sharp pain go through me.

"Shit," I inhale sharply. I get up and roam around in the dark till I find my light switch and flick it on.

When I do I lift up my shirt to see a red mark that runs from right below my left breast all the way down to my left hip. I take a sharp intake of breath and think of how I could have got this but nothing comes up.

I eventually give up and go to the bathroom and put medicine on the huge scratch and of course it stings and burns.

When I go back into my bedroom to lay down there is a carefully folded piece of paper on my bed.

I go over and pick it up and carefully unfold it and read what it says.

Dear Aurora,

You have been selected by the demon council to have a guardian protect you from anything that may want to harm you.

Sincerely,
Demon Council

I just stare at the paper and I reread the note four or five times to just make sure I read it right.

A guardian? What am I, a four year old?

I go over and throw the note in the trash and snort like I would ever listen to some dumb demon.

I lay back down careful not to lay on my left side and fall back asleep.

*Flash Back*

"Come here Aurora," mom yells from downstairs.

"Coming mommy," I giggle like the six year old I am.

When I run down the stairs and into the living room, my mom is sitting on the couch cuddle up to my dad.

Mom smiles when she sees me and pats the seat beside her inviting me to watch TV with them.

After watching TV for awhile my mom gets up to make dinner but instead when she heads in the kitchen my dad and I hear a scream.

Dad rushes into the kitchen and of course I chase after him but I am not ready to see what is before me.

There on the kitchen floor is my mother with a pool of blood surrounding her body. I look up to see my dad's expression to see that it looked horrified.

He runs over to my mom while I still stand in the doorway frozen on the spot. When hot tears start running down my face.

My father comes back over to me and hugs me telling me everything thing will be alright. When out of the corner of my eye I see a monster.

What this monster looks like is black with pure white eyes it doesn't even have a pupil. It's body is shaped like a dog but it has horns on its head and scales all down its sides.

I scream but before my dad can turn around to see what I screamed at, he got attacked.

My father looked helpless on the floor lying there underneath that thing. Later I would learn that that thing was called a venix.

After the venix was done with demolishing my dad it looked back at me and I swear it smirked.

I turn and ran I had no clue where I was running to but I just kept running.

While I was running I heard a kackle behind me and I stopped to look back and not ten feet behind me was the venix.

So I turn back around and I swear I ran for hours before I actually lost the thing well I thought.
