As soon as your feet touched the shiny marble floor of Incheon airport, you took a deep breath as if you could smell the Korean air already. You felt the urge to scream and jump around in joy, because why not? Your lifelong dream of going to Korea finally came true.
The only thing stopping you from doing so was the idea of looking like a complete cra-cra in front of many people, and have security ban you from Korea and throw your ass back to your country.
Sighing dreamily, you looked around and decided to get something to eat first since you arrived earlier than scheduled. Your scheduled taxi ride will be here only an hour later, so it would be nice to be able to look around for a bit.
A small shop that gave off the delicious scent of coffee and bread caught your attention, and immediately, you headed towards it like in a trance. The menu was mostly written in korean, but you didn't mind since you already know how to read, and even speak a little derp korean. You just ordered what looked good and flopped down on a seat facing the wide space of the airport, still not getting enough of how amazing it was to be in a totally different country.
And you probably looked so silly smiling at the bread you were eating, but oh well.
"First time?"
You almost choked on the bread when a male voice spoke out of nowhere. You turned and saw a guy seated on the table left of you, sipping coffee. He was just dressed in a plain white shirt, black pants and tall black boots, and was casually leaning back on his chair. He looked Korean, but his english was surprisingly good.
"First time in Korea...? Or first time eating this bread...?" You slowly asked. He laughed, and you couldn't help but notice how deep his dimple was.
"I meant in Korea, but I guess it can be both?"
"Oh. Well I guess yes for both..." You blushed at your own silliness. He probably saw you smiling like a total monkey. Smiling, he reached out to shake your hand.
"Welcome to Korea then. I'm Kim Namjoon."
"_______." You shook his hand and timidly smiled back.
"Are you here to tour?"
"To see idols... and yeah, tour and stuff." You chuckled at how silly your reason sounded. "How about you? Are you leaving or did you just arrive?"
"I just landed. This all feels too familiar for me already, but it's refreshing to see someone else look so enthusiastic upon landing. Makes me remember how excited I was when I had my first flight." He had this nostalgic look in his eyes as he took another sip of his coffee.
"So you travel a lot?"
"I fly a lot." He corrected. Your brows furrowed for a few seconds, until you saw a neatly folded black uniform on the chair beside him. Set on top of it was a pilot's cap. Your eyes widened.
"You're a pilot???" You choked out.
"At your service, ma'am." He playfully said as he gave a salute. Laughing, you slowly shook your head as you couldn't believe such an attractive young man could be a pilot.
"Wow. You get to travel to multiple countries at such a young age. I am seriously jealous." You joked.
"It has always been my dream to fly. Probably the most beautiful thing about my job is when you get to see the sky up close and personal, and there's this serene silence as you watch. It makes you feel like you have all the time in the world."
You just nodded as you listened to him, indeed rembering that calm feeling whenever you stared out of the plane window. It must feel much more special when you have the frontmost seat to the sky. Literally.
You and Namjoon started to talk about many more things, such as his job and how you ended up in Korea. You found out that he studied aviation at 18 but became a pilot at 20, and he's been flying for about a year already. You figured he must be a genius to finish such a difficult major at such a short time, and you didn't doubt that at all since you could already tell his intellect just by the way he speaks. He was very polite, and you actually had fun talking to him.
You only stopped when you realized that almost an hour as passed, and your scheduled taxi ride will be arriving soon.
"Oh shoot! I'm really sorry, but I have to go. My taxi will be here soon. It was really nice talking to you, Namjoon! Be safe on your next flight!"
You bowed repeatedly and waved as you scurried towards the airport exit.
"________ wait!" You haven't even walked that far when you heard Namjoon call after you. You stopped and waited for him, and you saw him have a hint of shyness as he smiled. He nervously licked his lips and rubbed his nose as he handed you a small calling card.
"_______, actually, I have about a week of rest before my next flight. Maybe, if it's okay for you, can I accompany you and be your tour guide even just for a week?"
"Really? But it's your only time to rest. You said your job could be stressfull and the only time you could get proper sleep is when--"
"It's okay. I don't mind. You're very fun to talk to, and I think my time of rest will be better spent with someone than alone." He smiled softly, and your cheeks turned hot due to the compliment. You awkwardly laughed as you finally accepted his calling card.
"Gee, thanks... I really appreciate this."
"At your service, ma'am." He curtsied playfully, and started to back away. "Make sure to call me."
He smiled one last time before walking away. You looked down at the calling card and smiled.
"I will."
